Need some direction on creating mass load of entities. Attached is my file for version 10.174. Haven’t updated yet to 187. In the file I have two models: VIR_Workflow and CVOR. I’m trying to recreate what I did in VIR_Workflow where I imported a table of all the entities. It would be daunting to creating hundreds of individual entities. I want to do the same thing with CVOR however, it did not load to create the entities itself as I thought is capable of doing. There’s over 5000 entities for this model. I have also attached the CVS files I used to import data. Please advise the best way to load in pre-sets of data to create the entities instead of doing it manually. Or if there's something simpler in doing what I want to do please share. I think I missed some kind of step. SIMIO.zip

Thank you very much for your help, but simio says I can't use the Release step with the server because I don't have any resources to release. In addition, although the Search step works very well, since I don't have any step that keeps the entities inside the server even if they are not called, they continue to leave the server and merge with entities that should not be merged. If I set the processing time to infinity, despite calling entities with the Search process, the entity does not leave the server. I tried to condition the processing time of each entity according to the "Ventana_de_entrega" state, but as expected, it is not the most appropriate. 21.10.spfx

Well, first thing, you don't need your entities to be bouncing between the output and the input of your server like that. If you want to use it as sort of storage, set both the processing time and the capacity to infinity. After that, at the moment that the parent entity enters the combiner "Parent Entered" you could search the queue of your storage using a search step with something like "Server1.Processing.Contents", with the condition of "Candidate.ModelEntity.State == ModelEntity.State", release the server and transfer what have been found to the output. You need to take some care on some situations, like what if the parent entity arrives first at the combiner then the member at the storage? And some care with batching quantities aswell. But I think you can handle it.

Hi all!, would you help me with this? I want to do a discrete simulation of the current situation in a Hospital in the inpatient unit. I have the data of one year of patients, (over 18,000 people) and I want to use that data in the simulation. That would make more easy to model the server processing times, while we will use the real server times and sequences that each patient had, instead to use probabilities and distributions for the sequence and server times respectively. So, I created a table where each row represent a patient with a sequence (which bed he was assigned due to his level of acuity) and the time that he spent in that bed before he was dispatched. The are more times involve, but we can focus in those parameters to have it more simple. So, the table have the patient name (entity) ,bed (sequence) and Length of Stay in the bed (server processing time). I don't know if is possible that when I create each entity, I can assign, based on that table, the sequence and the server processing time for each patient. How I can do that? Hello, I'm working on a problem where at some point a worker will transport a specific amount of pallets. Whereafter these pallets are processed by a server and a server wil process them. Once processed, a different worker (or the same worker) will move the pallets to the next server. How do I save these entities as a batch and let workers know how much pallets they can process? At the moment I have two approaches. One where I create a 'batch' as an entity and assign to it the amount of pallets. The 'problem' in that case is that I do need to count the amount of pallets at a server, since it has a certain capacity. And sometimes an initial batch whitch comes from a truck needs to be split to fit the capacity of workers. But once this would be fixed, the worker will always transport the right amount of pallets. A second approach that I have tried is to create the pallet entities normally, and assign a 'PalletHistory' in the modelEntity properties, but I find that after processing I can't find this palletHistory for the workers to get a sign of how many pallets to transport. Do any of you guys have an idea how I can approach this? Greetings

Hi M_A, Just setting the Sequence property to 'Sequence1' should be enough since you set up relational tables. Because you have Maximum Arrivals set to '1', it is going to produce 1 entity type. I would switch your Maximum Arrivals to '35' and number of entities per arrival to '1'. You will also need to set your interarrival time to '0', so all 35 show up at the same time. It might be best to use a second Source object to create your second shift. I would increase the length of the Ride Station Queue in order to see all 6 passengers boarding the Vehicle. I think the network is fine, but hard to debug. Be sure all travel destinations for the Vehicle are possible. Thanks, Ryan

Hello, I'm working on a project where we want to build a scheduling model. But there is one think that I'm dealing with for a while now. I want to capture mid phase stock. For example if we have part A, which has 5 sequences to be produced. But at previous order we did not push all the parts through production, so now we have some stock on different operations. What I want to achieve is, that when my order come I firstly look at general stock of finished products (OK). If there is not enough stock I want to look at how many parts I have on the stock before last operation, if there is enough I don't want to create new entities but use this stock and produced new parts. If there is not enough parts before last operation we of course look at every previous sequences and if there are still not enough parts only then I want create new manufacturing order and with that new entities. If any of you guys deal with system like that before it will be really helpful. If you haven't but have some idea how to solve this problem, it will also be helpful because I've already tried a lot of options and now I'm stuck. Best regards!

I would recommend using a Data Table. One column could have all your entity types defined. The next column could be a Tally Statistic Element Reference Property. This column would match up the Tally statistic you want to correspond with the Entity Type. You could choose to auto-create these Tally Statistics from the Data Table. If you change the Tally Statistic Property's column Reference Type property from 'Reference' to 'Create', this will make the Tally Statistics for you. I recommend the Help page "Table-Based Elements (Auto-Create)" in Simio for more information. If your Entity Instances noted in the Data Table are unique, no duplicates, you can set that column as a Key. With that column as a Key, you could use just the Tally step and use the RowForKey expression. RowForKey will allow a key input to search for in that column. If the model entity is driving the process, you could use an expression like this for the Tally Statistic Name 'Table1[Table1.EntityInstanceProperty1.RowForKey(ModelEntityReference)].TallyStatisticProperty'. Since it seems this process will be on the OnRunEnding, it will not have a reference to a specific entity, so you will most likely need a Search step to find the entities still in the system. I would set the Search step to find Infinite things and let each entity reference exit on the found branch. If the EntityInstanceProperty column in your Data Table has the Auto-set Table Row Reference property to 'True', the entities will already know the row reference and your Tally step Tally Statistic Name property could be 'Table1.TallyStatisticProperty'.

Hello! With your current approach, you need a way to aggregate the distance traveled per each entity. Each entity in the population is collecting their own distance traveled, but on the Output Statistic, you are looking at just the Instance, ProductA. The Instance will not automatically aggregate the population's values. If you were to specify a specific population index, for example ProductA[5].DistanceFunction, the Output Statistic would return the 5th entity in the population's distance function and you should see a value. However, making an Output Statistic for each population index would be inefficient and tedious to collect. I recommend using a global/model level State Variable. This State Variable could be summed as a ProductA entities leave the system. So the Product A entities will continue to collect their individual distance traveled as you have set it up, but then prior to exiting through the Sink, add their distance traveled to a running total State Variable. That total could then be divided by the number of entities destroyed giving you an average distance traveled.

Hey Simio insiders, I'm a Simio beginner and am doing my first big Simio project. I am modelling a docking system. Trucks arrive at docks with a certain amount of pallets/trolleys. The trucks dock and after a worker inspects their shipment, the trolleys or pallets will be transporter by the worker to the next area. Since there are multiple trolleys in a truck the worker will first transport the exact amount of trolleys (more than 1) to the next area. I cant find how to increase the capacity of a single worker and how to assign a precise amount of trolleys (temporarily) to process/transport. Thank you for your help

Great, thank you! My current problem is that workers should carry a specific amount, so sometimes 14 sometimes 17 with a max of 30. This maximum is given at the transport logic I think. Do you have a suggestion on how to deal with the specific numbers (depending on the amount of pallets in a given truck)?

You are not going to want to change the capacity of the worker, I think the definition of a worker is that is has a capacity of 1 (onshift) or 0 (offshift). What you are going to want to change is the Transport logic's "Initial Ride Capacity" to a number larger than 1. That property affect the RideStation capacity in the worker object.

I wonder if it is possible to pick one particular entity from the BatchMembersQeue and unbatch it. For example I have a pallet with 10 entities batched (9 red and 1 blue) and I want to remove only the blue one. I was able to find the entity with a search step, but I cannot transfer it or unbach it. Any ideas? TnksUnbatch one entity.spfx

Heya, I am experiencing some difficulties, with something that I would like to model. In short I would like to model the following: One road going from A to B by using a source and a Sink. Only trucks (entities) will be on this road, and they will be able to notice which truck is the most nearby. The truck is looking for another nearby ruck to group up with, and will try to form a couple, "Truck Platooning". Until one of them decides to make a turn to a different destination (passes a node, and decides to move to a different sink). During this time the following truck will safe fuel and thus costs. At the moment I am quite stuck with the following. I would like to make use of the find step and vectors. But there are not that many examples around on how to properly use them. I would like to let the entities update their location.x every second in the vector. Meanwhile the entities will use the findstep to find the nearest entitiy, and select this entity to 'catch-up' with. How do I make a list of these entities, and keep updating their location?

Drag and drop an ModelEntity into the facility layout. Then, select ModelEntity and see "Maximum number in system limit" property under "Population" section of properties window. Set this property as how many entities you desire throughout the simulation run.

Hi SI We are currently doing a project on queueing systems at Uni, and our tool of analysis is Simio. This means that i am quite new at using SIMIO, but i will try to explain the problem the best i can. We are building a system of a recycling center, simulating queues in the different lanes. I attatched a screenshot. We need to set the condition that the entities need to use at least one of the lanes, ContainersLane1, ContainersLane2 or GardenWaste, meaning the entities cannot drive directly through the recycling center through the lanes, but i do not know how to do so. I have created a Customer Data with different types of Model Entitites, defining the mix on each one of them. Once the model is running, a message appears saying "The maximun number in system limit for objects of [name of the model] has been exceeded. A possible cause is that the Maximun Number In System has too small of a value". However, I haven´t set any kind of property for the object. Does anyone know how can I solve this? Thank you!

I have a model where I need to set a server had a maximum of 15 entities from 7 A.M to 10 A.M. I Use the WorkSchedule but I don't know how to limit the number of entities. Can someone help me? *This server it is parallel with other servers.

This is my first post on Simio forums so please let me know if this is the incorrect place. I have Default (Parent) entities that must go through only one series of combiners for processing the members (ModelEntity 1,2,3) that get attached. At the end of the series, a separator removes all members and the parent entity circles back to the start to acquire new members. No parent entity can start processing in the combiner series while another entity is going through that combiner series. I cannot figure out how to stop entities from entering the first combiner in a series while there is another entity processing in the same series. Ideally I would like to store these parent entities at a location until a series of combiners are free for processing. CombinersInSeries.spfx

Hello, I have a source that I need to let create 5 entities per arrival before 1 minute runtime and 1 entity per arrival after 1 minute, how do I do that? Thank you

I'm trying to model airport ground operations using workers for the different processes, servers for the gates, entities for arriving airplanes and TransferNodes to control the flow of entities and workers. My research is focused on the control of these ground processes, but I can't get my process logic correct.. I attached a simple model to help answering the question. I want the workers to move to the right server before the entity arrives there and can immediately start processing the entities. One method is to use a global queue from which workers decide which entity to process next based on some criteria and dynamic rule selection. In the attached model I use two entities which go to Gate1 and Gate2. Gate 1 needs workers move to the node before it can start processing, Gate 2 does not. Using an add-on process, I move the worker to the gate before it is requested and wait for the entity to arrive. But for some reason it does not start processing immediately when the entity arrives and I can't figure out how to model this correctly.. It's the first time I'm using Simio, so I some help would be appreciated on how to set up the logic for my processes.. I'm kinda stuck now on how to get some basics thing in my model right or if I'm using the right processes steps.. Thanks in advance! TestModelWorkers.spfx

I'm trying to simulate a bottling line with conveyors, but the problem is that in real, in some tracts, the bottles through in the line in parallel position. How can i obtain that two or more entities flow through the line? Is it possible? P.S.: Is it possible to extract entities properties like size of the entity (x,y,z) to export this data? Hello I want to know if there is a way to create 2 different entities at the same source at the same time. I want my source to pick between 3 sets of entities when creating new entities. I have seen something similar in a simulation, where a man and woman was created simultaneously and the woman was assigned to a que while the man went to a server, but I can't find this simbit now. Hi, I’m using a Process type: Task sequence in my model at Server 1. I’d like to interrupt the server each 12 hours for 4 hours and resume the entity being processed later. I’ve used a Timer and an Interrupt step which work perfectly only when the Process type is Specific time. Therefore, I tried with a token to obtain the Interruption at the server. I made a process (InterruptServer) doing so but I feel like I’m missing some understanding here. I’ve received an error message as you can see in the small model.
