  1. Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has a good idea for how to view a resource's utilization according to the day of the week in the pivot grid of an experiment? Currently, my best idea is to just have a status plot in the facility window to illustrate this but I'd prefer to have an average utilization by day of resources in the pivot table. The scenario I'm working with is having "technician" resources that are being seized by server objects to do "maintenance" on the truck entities coming into the maintenance shop. I'd like to see which days of the week are the busiest so I could determine where to schedule new technicians. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Pit-To-Bay Off-Shift Rule Fixed.spfx
  2. I have a subclassed vehicle that I created based on this example. After updating to 197 it doesn't work, anyone else having similar experience? I am trying to recreate my vehicle but when the operator gets to the vehicle, the vehicle disappears and the operator just stands there and nothing else happens.
  3. I want to be able to schedule events for the future without having to define a separate timer for each possible time this will happen. Ideally i'd like to be able to index into a vector of timers to start one, so it can be dependent on a state variable. One use of these would be recurring tasks, for instance, while a patient is in post-surgery, they will be administered medicine every r hours. This is dependent on them exiting surgery (it doesn't begin at a specific time), so a rate table doesn't really work, and that would run into a similar problem of having to define different rate tables for each patient type and recurring tasks (potentially hundreds). Any ideas?
  4. Yeah, I figured that part out. I need more control than task sequences allow me, is there a way to simulate task sequences in processes so I can add more machinery? I can probably make something work with just the sequences, but it will take a lot and I'm trying to avoid getting too complicated at the moment, it's just a prototype.
  5. After looking more into task sequences, it may work, but not without major rework, the primary issues are that the seizing is not the only thing that happens, and work will be done in phases, without moving from the server, and different patients may not have the same phases. I see how it could be done with a second model, but i'd like to avoid getting too complicated if I can Is it not possible to do what I asked in my original question?
  6. I am working on a model of an emergency room, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to model multiple personnel working on a patient at once. For instance, when a patient enters, the patient will attempt to seize a nurse, a PA, and a Doctor to do a number of tasks that can be done simultaneously (but are not required to be done simultaneously). If the doctor is busy, the nurse and PA should be able to finish their tasks and move on while the patient still waits for the doctor. I need a way to seize-delay-release the nurse and PA and move on with other processes before the doctor arrives. Effectively, I want to schedule the release at a later time, instead of stopping the process with a delay step.
  7. Visualize Utilization in Facility Window or Dashboard Reports I have a source – several servers – sink model. It’s a model of an assembly line production meaning that the entity cannot continue to Server 2 if Server 2 is occupied. The servers have different production times and I want to compare the different utilizations of the servers. I did this over the experiment window and the expression Server1.ResourceState.PercentTime(1) . In a next step I want to visualize these utilizations next each other with something like a bar chart. I came up with two possible ways of doing so but both didn’t work. In the facility window with the animation tools like the linear gauge. The problem here is probably that the expression “PercentTime” has no reference to what the overall time is, while the model is running, and therefore the gauge shows constant 100% the whole time. Or in the experiment window in the dashboard reports which doesn’t have percent time as a response. Is there any other way of visualizing the utilization?
  8. Hi, Have an issue relating to trying to track a segmented entity with the camera. I've attached a very simple model that demonstrates the problem. As soon as i set the draw type to 'Segemented' the camera tracking just doesn't work. One possible solution i am aware of is to simulate the segmented object as individual entities. In the context of what i'm trying to do this creates a lot of additional complexity that i don't want to address. Any other bright ideas? Thanks, Lucas Camera Tracking Segmented Entity.spfx
  9. Thanks, Jason. Casually, do you have or recommend some documentation to work with Create process step? Sorry, I don't have a large experience with process. Also in your second suggestion, is it possible to do it variable? It means, the schedules of deadlines are variable, so I just know I have three intervals and de large of interval is constant. I'm really grateful with your help!
  10. Thanks, Jason for your answer and your interest. The situation is the following: I have to receive an order with set amount of entities that must be completed in a specific date and hour, but I need to distribute that order in some intervals before the deadline. It means, If I have an order with 15 entities for November 3 at 8 pm, I could receive 10% of the entities at 7 pm, 50% at 7:30 pm and 40% at 8 pm. So, I have the idea to do an arrival table for the schedule of the order and a rate table for the percentages that I need. And I want to know that is possible in SIMIO to put both in the source? Thanks for your help!
  11. I am making a model that simulates trucks coming in with a certain amount of pallets. These pallets are transported with the use of forklifts to a sink. The truck arrives at a seperator where the pallets and trucks are seperated. The idea is that multiple forklifts work on one truck when there is only one. But when a second truck arrives one forklift should switch to the new truck. In the current model they work on the same trucks and react when a new truck comes in they unload it but then continue transporting the pallets of the first truck instead of staying with the new truck. So as soon as a forklift unloads a truck I also want it to transport the pallets within it. I think this has to do with the reservation of the vehicle. I already tried a lot of different options but nothing seemed to be working. I uploaded my model as well and I really hope someone could help me with this issue. Thanks in advance! Model1.spfx
  12. I am trying to model forklifts moving around that require a worker to operate. I found this example under SI Shared items and have tried to recreate as best I can. However, my model is complex in that I have multiple workers and forklifts. I want the forklift to choose an available worker. I can get it to work with 1 specific worker, but when I choose from list of operators I get this error: I have tried all the different Travel Mode options. Any ideas on how to correct this?
  13. Well, I seem to have made some progress. I realized I was trying to sort the contents of the station incorrectly. When I started using the "Contents Ranking Rule" the entities in the storage queue lined up correctly. I then found that I could assign a string Element Reference Element state variable "ElRef" to TestStation.Contents.ItemAtIndex(CycleCounter ) where TestStation is the name of my station with a storage queue. This returns a reference to the entity at wherever the cycle counter is at for example, it might find "entity.27" for the current reference. This is where I get a bit confused. I was able to then search the storage queue for TestStation.Contents.ItemAtIndex( CycleCounter)==ElRef. This is the only way I could figure out how to access the existing state values of the entity with reference "entity.27" or whatever as it would be guaranteed to exit the found branch. From that point I believe I can test the states of the found entity to see if it is a good fit to enter the system. If not I can increment the CycleCounter if there are more to check in the prioritized storage queue. My sense is this "should work". But it does not seem as efficient as one might like. I am curious if there might be a more direct way to access the entity's attributes without the search step. Thanks, Jim
  14. Hi All, I have a query. Is there a way to implement logic that allows the model to vary the processing time of a server as a function of the available man power? In my model I have various servers and all need a specific number of workers in order to begin processing. I have one large pool of workers to be shared between all stations. This means that there are times when all the workers are in use and times when some are spare. Ideally I would like to model that when there are men spare they would come and help other stations and get the job done quicker or when only some of the required quota of workers are seized they can start the work all be it at slower pace until the full quota has been seized. I hope this makes sense Thanks
  15. Try using ModelEntity.BatchMembers in your processing time expression. I believe it'll work.
  16. Hello, In response to JBeltran: I can figure out how to grab the variable member.priority. If I was able to do that, the rest would be easy I think. I played around with the search function and it didn't seem to work (maybe I am using it wrong?) In response to ATSProThiede: The instance I uploaded was only using the InitialPriority because that was my latest attempt. I had attempted other options that I noted in the OP. Also, you can change the InitialPriority away from 0 in the entity's options. My problem is that only the parent's values are able to be seen. I have no criteria to change the ModelEntity.Priority because the decision needs to be based off of the entity type of the member. The file you attached does not work properly. I turned off the H1BUnits source, so everything should go to packlane1, yet some go to packlane2 or even bypass both to the sink. I have done quite a bit of digging and have found probably 3-4 other feeds that were never answered as member data seems to be difficult to access. Thank you both for the feedback. Please let me know if you have other ideas or I didn't properly test your reply. Best regards, Alex
  17. The conditional routing by link weight (PackFeed2 - Conveyor22 or Conveyor 23; PackFeed4 - Conveyor26 or Conveyor27) is not working for me. The current file is set to make the decision by initial priority, but I have tried other methods with no success: > Assign ModelEntity.Priority with addon process, then route by link weight of ModelEntity.Priority=="X" > Assign link weight by ModelEntity.EntityType > Assign link weight by ModelEntity.BatchMembers.Contains("X") I think this may not be working because they are arriving as a parent/member batch. Is there a different link weight condition that may work. Please note I have 1 parent type and 2 member types. The decision needs to based off of the member entity. The area of concern is towards the end of the process at the top left of the simio (file attached). APS Design 2.spfx
  18. Based on another thread of yours (link), I ended up created a real state variable for my entities per arrival, then created a process to pause and a process to restart based on the population in the system. So far it seems to work. The change you show above only fixed the issue for another 12 hours or so.
  19. This does seem to work!! Thank you for your help!
  20. First rank the vehicles accoding to your preference in your node list (My vehicle first then the standard vehicles). Then, setting "reservation method" as "reserve closest" and "selection goal" as "preffered order" and "selection condition" as "Candidate.Vehicle.ResourceState!=1" will work for you.
  21. Hi George, I know the normal ways, to create an entity from a table are: 1) Use a timer with the date/time table for a trigger for a own process or 2) A source with the arrival table option. If you want to create entities, maybe you can make a loop process like GFurtado with an Read-Step/Excel-Step and then you can use the Create-Step of Simio. Then you can check with an Decide-Step "TimeNow >= value" for example and create your Entity. With this option you can use FastForward too. With an lower delay time it is near the real time. Maybe this could be a solution for your problem. Because, then you dont need a third party tool to click on import. I checked the Simio API and I dont find something about a trigger for the Simio buttons or a button click event, what we can use for the problem. It would be nice, if there is an API to "use" the button click processes. For example, to import one or all tables again. Maybe a professional Simio API developer know more and can write here. Have a nice day! Best regards Pascal
  22. Hi jord41, Simio loads the bound tables once during the initialization in the Simio tables. Data access requires a lot of computing time. (More for writing as reading). I see that you only have 1 column of integer values. My recommendation is that you do not import the table into a Simio table. It's best to create an integer or real state of type vector. Then you use e.g. the Read-Step or the ExcelRead-Step. In conjunction with a timer or the sample example loop of GFurtado you can load the data at intervals. I think that this could be a solution. At least that's how I would do it if I had to work with real-time data. Normally, such real-time data is written to a SQL database by a PLC or something like that. Then you can use the SQL steps anytime in Simio. Best regards Pascal
  23. At some point I would start looking for a SCADA system, write it in Python or anything outside Simio. A Simio Engineer would be better suited to help you, but I still believe you could build this inside Simio (maybe through an API?). I manage to build a very ugly version of this that kinda works. It's not real real-time, because I still need to click on the manual import button (I don't know how to help you with this). I set my source's Arrival Mode to On Event; Create a process with a Decide step that checks if the table received a new value: If it received a new value, trigger SourceEvent; If it didn't, check again a second later. As I said, it's not very elegant, but I hope it inspires you to find the right solution.
  24. Hi again! Ok! I must've missed it because I tried to use it as a time table (for arrival times) , but now I've tried what you told me before with it as a State and it does update both the table and the simulation! (It takes values at random, but it works! I'll try to find a way to make a time index!) So I'll update my question! Can arrival time tables be modified the same way? Because it didn't work for me using the method we both described! It changed the units and got a bit fuzzy with it, like taking values at random instead of following the order of the table! Referencing the pictures above, it would be like it started following the arrival table in order (3,3,3,4,8,9...) and after I update it it just goes full random and takes whatever value it wants(making it quite hard to check if it actually used the new ones which it usually doesn't for some reason) , is there a way to keep the arrival times following an order after I update the table? Or am I doing something terribly wrong? (Which being honest, is much more likely! haha) Thanks to everyone in advance, and so sorry for my mistake!
  25. Hi GFurtado! Thanks for your answer! I'm using Simio 11.189 as my testing ground, and even though the ribbon is not the same, I can import data trough it, the problem is, even tho the data is imported into the table, it is not updated mid run so Simio keeps using the values previous to the new import, I'll elaborate a bit. Imagine these are the original values in the binded table I created. With those original values, I start the simulation and after a while I update the binded file (the .csv where Simio is taking values from) and I click on update table with the following options enabled. (Bear in mind! I've tried all of the options in the image below to no avail!) (Options used before clicking update mid-run) (Updated mid-run table, values get updated but Simio doesn't use them!) While the values get updated, Simio doesn't use them in this run (in the example I posted, it would only use the original first 9 values instead of all of the 19 values provided). As further context, I am indeed trying to make kind of a 'wacky' simulation, my idea is to update the .csv providing the data to the table at periodic intervals with new data from a real life reading from a machine, or something similar, and use that data as the entity creation time to try and make kind of a 'parallel' simulation with the actual readings of the system. But of course, for me being able to do that I need to know if Simio can update tables with new data and USE that new data mid - run! Thank you so much for your reply and for your time! Have a great one!
