[EDIT] Hi all, I am modeling a restaurant, where orders are placed until 22:00. The preparation of these orders takes approximately 20 minutes (it can be more or less due to the probability distributions involved). I have some workers whose schedules are from 10:00 to 22:30 and they prepare these orders. The problem is the following. Suppose that it's 22:30 and there are still some orders in the queue. Since the worker's schedule ends now, those orders can't be processed and will remain for the next day. This obviously does not happen in a real-life restaurant. So if at the end of the worker schedule (22:30) there are some orders in queue, I would like to extend the schedule until all orders are met. The problem is I don't know how long it will take the workers to prepare the missing orders, so I can't suppose a certain time needed to complete the orders. I have to wait that the last order is prepared to set the end of the working day. How can this be done? Thank you in advance, Marcel Favereau

I have a source, called forklift source, that has a varying interarrival time based on the time of day. To do this, I created a time indexed table with the different interarrival times in different rows and the interval period set to one hour. This source also depends on the interarrival time of another source called Newtrucksource, but not on an hourly basis. I am trying to conduct an experiment where the interarrival time of newtrucksource changes with different experiments and a different time indexed interarrival table for source 1 is used for each of these different interarrival times. To do this, I created a real property for newtrucksource's interarrival time and a table property for forkliftsource's time indexed interarrival table. However, I can't get this to work because in the model, the interarrival time property for the forkliftsource must be a "number" and I am referencing a table which comes up as using "string". Trying to find a way to make this work.

Hello, I am new to Simio, and I am still trying to figure out which Simio product will be most valuable in my case. I have some specific questions: I would like to confirm the following: If I build a simulation model in Simio Simulation Software, can I import it into Simio Scheduling Software and build on it? When you say that Simio Scheduling Software allows performing risk analysis in real time, do you mean that: You can actually connect the software to sensors where the software automatically performs the analysis based on real-time data? OR you manually import data and you run the simulation model to update the results? This question overlaps with my second question, but it will help me better understand. When you talk about the Simio Digital Twin, are you referring to the Simio Scheduling Software? Their functionalities look similar except for the clearly mentioned physical connectivity to real-time data in case of Simio Digital Twin which is not directly implied in case of the scheduling software. At this stage, Simio Simulation Software fulfills my current needs. However, I would like to leave the door open for building a digital twin after achieving my current objectives. Hi! I have been using SIMIO for quite some time now, but I have barely come across this need. I need to record the time spent per entity at any given path/server in the simulation, rather than obtaining the average time for all entities at the end of the simulation. Take the image below as an example. I need to record the time spent in the link (TimeOnLink) per entity generated. The path corresponds to that connecting the source to servers 2-7. Then, I need to record the time spent per entity on servers 2-7 (TimeInStation). I can display the unique ID number for each entity by Entity.ID, now I need to match the statistics. I figure the best way to model is trough ExcelWrite, but I can't manage to make it work. Any hints? The plan is to get the following information per entity, rather than a summary of all entities.

Hi All, In examining a medical system, we have a requirement to log snapshots of the patient details being processed at specific points in time during experiment replications. For each server, we would like to know the state values for entities currently in processing in each functional area ( a mix of servers and storage queues). I suppose I am looking for an "Easy Button" which would quickly capture a Work In Process snapshot of the system. Are there any thoughts on accomplishing something like this? Any kind comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Hi Guys, I have a source producing the entities, which is processed by the server with a worker. server and worker are assigned to work schedule (7Hrs) (12am-7am) arrival model of the server is set to time varying arrival rate. to control the source on holidays. But with current scenario the source is producing the entities on off-shift time. Please help out with a logic, so that source is produces the entities matching to the timings of work schedule. Note: Simulation run is for a period of 1 year. Regards, Alen

Hi Everyone, I have 100s of different products in a warehouse and I want to get statistics for all of them such as distance travelled, number entered and exited. So I created the entity instances for each product automatically through data table. The entity.totaldistancetraveled function doesnt increase since the entity doesnt moveby itself but moved by forklift instead. So I have created a state variable called "distanceonforklift" and increased by the difference between the forklift total distance travelled value when entity exits and enters to forklift. I have also created a function called "distancefunction" on the entity and equated it to "distanceonforklift" state variable of the entity. For the return type of function I have chosen "number" and set the unit to "length". I validated that both distance state variable and function is calculated correctly in the facility window. However I cannot output the result of this state variable on the model results screen. I used the following expression under model outputstatistic but it didnt work. "ProductA.DistanceFunction". That expression gives me 0 value although there are some entities of this product which enters and exits the system. How can I see the average total distance travelled on forklift for the whole population of Product A?

Hello, I have a model, that's producing parts (Multiple Parts A,B, C,D) with a server, sever works based on a work schedule and off shift days and holidays and the simulation is run for 1 year. Note: processing time for each part is different i need to extract the number of parts produced each month. Also need to determine the monthly efficiency of server , since some months may have holidays. Please provide a solution to get the dat on a monthly basis.

Your colleague can create models that will be part of an object library for your model. - You can't join different models into a final one but - You can import a custom object library made by your colleague. On the project home tab > Load library > Select your colleague's SPFX file > Import Now you can drag and drop the premade objects into your cooperative final model. This is how I collaborate on projects.

Hi, I am trying to build an object library for an airport terminal. For this, I build the objects as separate models and place them in a 'sampleairport' model for testing them all together. The 'sampleairport' model contains all the objects, so it has no issue referencing to properties from the placed objects. However the other way around does not seem possible. For example; I want the user to import a standard format flight schedule, which will be uploaded in the 'sampleaiport' model. Now I need to reference this table from the other models, but Simio does not allow me to do this? Is there a way I can reference the table or other properties from models in my other models? You are correct that it will keep the resource seized until after the delay. A work around would be to subclass the server and change the PerformProcessingTask. All you would need to do is move the execute task to after the release, then it should release the resource and then do the execute (Your Add-on process).

Hi Shawn, I thought of this, I've actually got a column called Delay_Days. I didn't think of adding a delay in before/after process because I'm worried it'll throw resources off, as in, it'll keep them utilised when instead they should be working on other tasks that don't need delay. Would this still work?

Fernando, I'm curious as to whether you and Glenn ever resolved these issues... It's been over 3 years at this point. For what it's worth, I searched for MS-SQL connection string and found this site with various examples: https://www.connectionstrings.com/sql-server/ I'm assuming and hopeful that you did resolve your issue. Thus, I want to ask some follow up questions. Once you connected, how did you did you pull data from your database--did you use an add-on process or did you import it into a table? If you used a table, how did you construct our SQL query? Ryan

If I were you I would define a storage element. Then, if the patients are finished with their loop I send them to storage (you can think of it as a waiting room). Then, when the vehicle is available I should check the storage (with a search step) and if exist get the patients on the vehicle. Does it work for you?

The answer is no! If you call MATLAB via user generated MATLAB step simio will temporarily suspend till the outgoing token will return (with a value or not). If you add a breakpoint, simio will come to a "full stop". This means simio can not send any token to run/call matlab/codes. Most likely your problem is that the matlab user defined step does not work properly. If it works properly you need not to stop simio anyway. Try to locate the required files appropriately or check your visual studio edition etc.? I am not sure what is the problem but the .dll file can be outdated?

We are building a model of a medical facility where some patients need to be evacuated out of the model using a vehicle. In its current state, when a patient is in the ward or ICU, it will be determined if they need to evacuate. While they are waiting for an evacuation transport, they will be in a task sequence loop. We would like some way for the patient to seize a spot on the transport, perform the tasks loops, and once the transport arrives at the facility transfer node, the patients break out of their loop, and seize a worker to be carried to the vehicle. We have patients looping correctly and workers carrying the patients to the transport node, but they are not waiting for the vehicle to arrive. Having a condition that breaks the loop when the vehicle is in the loading node is not working because as it leaves its current node does not update quickly enough so entities go to the node that then are not picked up. A potential solution we found was to use the MinimumDwellTimeExpired State variable for the Evac transport in the loop conditional (If transport is dwelling then do not continue the loop and get routed to the transport, if it is not dwelling stay in the loop), however this variable is not public with no apparent way to make it so. We have also tried to make a function in the vehicle to try and mirror the state variable value, but this also did not seem to work as it does not update during the run.

Most probably secondary resources will work for you, support here!. I can not open your model since we are using different editions. If we were to use the same edition I was able to open your model. Thus, while developing models which you will share with someone else you should consider this constraint.
