Hello, In my simulation model, I have an object which contains a source and 3 transporters (Vehicles). I added 3 such objects in my main model. How should I specify transporter name in the output node of the object in the main model for the model to run well? I tried setting up a table and searching the row for the vehicle name, seems to give errors. Thank You.

Let me start by saying I have not used Simio in a few years, so any help is appreciated. I'm trying to model a busing operation with three stations and three buses. Each station will start with 1 bus. Passengers will arrive at station A, B, or C. Passengers at A might be going to B or C, and those going to C could ride the bus to B and stay on until the bus approaches C. It is also possible the bus could take a full load of passengers straight from A to C. There are 6 total routes possible: A-B, A-C, B-A, B-C, C-A, C-B. How can I set up my vehicle routing in a way that allows passengers to ride 1 or 2 segments to get to their final destination? (If someone needs to go from A to C, they could either ride from A->C or from A->B->C.) If a group of passengers bound for stations B and C arrive at station B, how do I make sure passengers bound for station C stay on the bus? I'm trying to use rate tables for my arrival data. Do I need to use 6 different rate tables and 6 different entities? One for each path? Thank you for your help!

Hello, My model has 157 control variables now and it turns out I need about 300 runs per experiment and is at over 90MB. I can leave my experiments to run over lunch or if I’m away from my desk, but what becomes cumbersome is when I have to make a change to my object class, but my computer doesn’t respond when I click on a node, path, station, etc. in the facility window to make a change. So then I have to remove all my objects from the main model and make my changes to the object. When I do this, then I lose all my experiment settings (Set Referenced Property). Also, there is the issue that when I change the physical screening line in the facility window, then if that object is still in the main model, it gets resized. So then I have to remove the object from the main model and drag a new one in, which also makes me lose all my experiment settings. I find that making changes to my model and resetting the experiments is not efficient. Is there anything I can do to avoid all this extra work or is this just part of Simio? I have 8 GB of RAM and an Intel Core processor at 3.10GHz. I'm running Simio version 7.114.1171. I’m due for an upgrade anyway, but don’t actually think I would gain anything compared to what I have with my model now. Thanks. Maryam

Hey all, My team is developing a model to simulate a network of electric fleet vehicles. We are hoping to track the number of cars parked at a charger in the model as a state variable (called NumCars), and then reference this value in the "processes" tab of the model entity, in order to assign individual cars certain values (called Signal). We have been unable to correctly reference NumCars in the Signal process within model entity. We attempted to use Model.NumCars to reference this value, but received an error stating: "Unable to get value of the property. Referenced definition type 'Model' does not match executing type 'ModelEntity'. Is there any way to reference a model state variable within a model entity process, as we are hoping to do? Hi. I´m having a very basic doubt about processing times. I have two products which one with a different processing time that varies from server to server, so when the model entity arrives at one specific server, i need to "read" what kind of product is passing and what´s the server in use from a table. I believe that´s an easy problem, but a can´t figure out how to do it. Thanks

Hi guys, I stopped working on my model some weeks ago and now that I restarted my work I noticed that all the Decides on my model were cleared - the decide property is set to "0.0" in all of them! The only think that I can think of is that after these non work weeks gap I did a Simio update - I think it was to the latest version. Can somebody help me retrieve my model with the deciedes? Or help me in any other way? Please, this is very urgent...

Hi all, I was trying to modify my Simio model by using xml format, that is, I saved my model in XML format and edited it in Visual Studio. However, when I tried to open the xml file via Simio, it pops out an error message saying "XML contents not verified". It could be real fast to model a large scale model by using XML and my work nature needs modelling large scale model frequently. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Jeng

Hello, i have some problems with my model and i really hope you can help me with that. I don't think it is too difficult but i don't know how to solve that. Please take a look at the attached model. So the goal of my attached model is that vehicles transport entities to the servers. The vehicles should wait till they are fully loaded with 4 entities but they are not allowed to have a length which is more than 12 meters. Each entity has a certain length. Every server has a random distributed processing time. As soon as the entity exits the server, a new entity is created. The vehicle should always pick up the next 4 entities. So my problems are: 1) The vehicle stops at Server 1 and i don't know why. But the vehicle delivers the first entity and then doesn't continue on his tour. 2) How can i measure how often the servers are idle? The problem is that the model needs to be changed after i get an entity to each server first. Because i want to measure how often the entities from the source arrive too late at the servers. But therefor each server should have one entity in their input buffer and one entity processing. Can is somehow start the simulation with two entities at each server? How can i realize that? 3) So length of each vehicle is not allowed to be over 12 meters when the vehicle picks up 4 entities. So in my opinion i should use the "Dwell only if" option. For example "StateVariable1<12" I wanted to use a state variable, so every time entity is loaded the length is add to that variable. But i don't know how to realize that. 4) I want to change the amount of the vehicles in the experiments. I did that with a property. Dear members, I could really use your help with the following for my research project: A server that is capable to processing parts in both directions (I can only find tandem servers)? To be specific a waterway lock that is able to transfer ships from one direction to the other. Besides that, there are multiple ship sizes, so server capacity fluctuates over time, depending on entering ships. Any ideas?? Thank you in advance!

What happens if a model built with Enterprise-only features is opened with Team Edition? Specifically, I have many states in tables for collecting outputs in my model. Can someone with only Team edition still run the model? Will they get error messages? Will they even be able to open the file? Thanks! Adam

I have a strange behavior of one of my models. I have shared this model with my customer (for the second or third time). But the model behaved not the same way as on my machine. The changes I had made last to the model were not shown on the machine of my customer. Only when the customer renamed the model, he could see the model correctly. I don't know what happened. And I can't imagine why the issue disappeared by renaming the model. The only thing I could think about is that it has something to do with the way Simio resolves the pathes of model libraries, which are loaded and used in a model. Perhaps I don't share the model in the correct way. But what are the requisites to do this? I have two libraries and a model which is depending on both of this libraries A and B. The library B consists of subclassed models of library A. All the 3 files are saved in the same project folder "D:\Simulation\MyModel\". Now, when I share this 3 files with my customer, the files are localized in a different folder, as the folder "D:\Simulation\MyModel\" doesn't exist on this machine. 1) My question is know how would Simio know that the pathes of the libraries "A" and "B" have changed? 2) How would Simio search for the libraries? 3) What would happen if Simio doesn't find the libraries? Would the main model remain the way it was saved on my machine, using the internal copies, but the model wouldn't any more update the definitions if I would change something in the library "A" or "B". 4) Has Simio some internal cache where it saves the model files lastly used? 5) When would Simio search for the libraries? For example if the model is opened after it was renamed? 5) Or what could be happened? I hope that I could explain my case with my bad English. Thanks for any help. Adrian.

This is a very simple question that is common to many models. Let's imagine I just want an element where entities will be stored untill some other element 'pulls' from them. What is the easiest way to imlement having rich information on the amount of entities stored in that element, their average throughput time, etc? Many thanks.

Here is a simple utility that will export, import and delete artifacts of your model. Here is a screen shot of the available capabilities. The code and DLL have can be found on SImio GitHub. Please find at this link: https://github.com/SimioLLC/ExportImportModelAddIn You will also find install instructions in the ReadMe. Here are the changes that have happend over time: Updated 2023-01-31....Added the ability to select multiple tables for export and delete table data functions. Updated 2022-10-05....Updated the exports to sort the data first my name and then export. This ensures that the data exported is in a consistent order. Updated 2021-12-07....Added the ability to select a table and then remove the data from the selected table. If a table name is not selected, all the tables in the model will have their data removed. Updated 2021-09-20....Added Update Model Properties (CSV). With this new method, you can import model properties into your model. If the file contains 3 fields...First is name, then type and last is default value. The only valid types are real, datetime, Boolean and everything else is string. If the model property already exists, it will only update the default value on the property. Note: The example assumes the field separator is a caret '^'. To change this, you need to change the delimiter field. Updated 2021-09-08....Updated the sequence of the exports, deletes and imports happen. When OK is pressed, first the exports are run, then deletes and finally the imports. With this change, I am able to Export Table to DB, Delete Table Data and Import Table from DB from in a single run. I typically do this when re-mapping auto creates elements. Since the table data need to be removed and recreated before mapping of the elements are correctly mapped. Updated 2021-09-06....Upgraded to .NET 4.7.2. Also, fixed the windows form so it displays correctly. When opened, the form should no longer need to be expanded to see all the options. Updated 2018-11-08....Added Export To CSV, Export To DB and Import From DB. Export To DB will create a table in the SQL Server database with the same table name as the table in Simio. The data columns will be of type nvarchar(max) and the default value will be the same as the default value in the Simio table. It is assumed that Simio desktop will still do the data validation, not the database. This feature is used to save the Simio data into a database so it is backed up and can be shared across users. Each time the Export To DB, if the table already exists, it is dropped, and a new table is created. This ensures that the data schemas match between the Simio model and the SQL Server database. The attached model relates to the discussion at the following post: http://www.simio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1165 I created a very basic, not quite fully functional, 'dwell time' model that calculates the dwell time based on how soon the next departure slot is according to Dave's example above. This is something I have been meaning to implement for a while, and now have finally decided it needs to be done. I have a submodel, and due to the limitations of the software can't transfer it into the submodel and keep the model clean. I followed advice posted here, and have made the submodel seize the worker and send it to a node in the higher level model... while the submodel is in progress. Is there a nice efficient way to have the worker/vehicle (vehicles are the new worker in terms of having all the functionality i require) able to interrupt the submodel and either remember where it was up to and return after break... or allow another seize request for a different worker, and have that worker continue where it was left off?
