Presentations Include

Enhancing Autonomous Mobile Robot Solutions with a Flexible Simulation Template

Presented by Seegrid

Seegrid partnered with Simio to develop a flexible simulation template that supports collaborative use across their solution design team.

The template style model allows Seegrid to have flexibility and accuracy when proposing new solutions to their end customers, particularly for the most complex autonomous mobile robot workflows.

Optimizing Last Mile Networks for a Coca-Cola Bottler with a Strategic Routing Tool

Presented by TMX Transform

TMX Transform partnered with a Global Beverage Company to develop a strategic last mile network tool to help explore network changes with the goal of achieving the optimal balance between lead time and cost. The dynamic routing algorithm enabled quick “what-if” scenario testing and automatically configured sale center volume allocations and routes based on the active nodes and locations.

Transforming Nuclear Fuel Manufacturing: Westinghouse’s Digital Twin-Based Scheduling Journey

This presentation highlights Westinghouse Electric Company’s journey in deploying Simio simulation software to enhance nuclear fuel assembly manufacturing, starting from its Columbia facility and expanding to sites worldwide. By embracing digital twin technology, advanced planning and scheduling, and a clean-up of critical data sources, Westinghouse effectively transformed complex manufacturing processes into more manageable and efficient operations. Attendees will gain insight into the importance of accurate data, dedicated teams, and strategic planning in realizing simulation’s full potential for global enterprise applications.

Optimizing Training Efficiency with Traeser™: A Simulation-Based Approach by Lockheed Martin

Presented by Lockheed Martin

A contractor-operated training provider must minimize training costs while achieving student graduation rates, particularly when dealing with unexpected circumstances that affect resource availability. Traditional spreadsheet-based resource planning methods lack the flexibility to respond to these changes, leading to potential misses in annual targets and increased costs. Using Simio software, Lockheed Martin has developed a discrete simulation solution called Traeser™ to optimize resource usage and support informed decision-making throughout the training program lifecycle.

Enhancing Patient Care Through Simulation: Optimizing Policies and Workflows in a Family Medicine Clinic

Presented by Emory Healthcare

Georgia Tech students partnered with Emory Healthcare for their capstone project to help their Family Medicine Clinic in Dunwoody understand what new policies and constraints could be applied to the residents and nurses in the facility to improve service times for patients and improve the quality of time patients spend in the clinic. Based on historic patient arrival times, they modeled visit requirements based on the resident’s experience and patient’s age and visit needs to experiment how different rooming and queuing policies, provider assignments, and order of appointments based on their length could improve patient satisfaction and reduce patients’ total time in the clinic.

Enhancing Multisite Production Planning with Simio: A Dynamic Scheduling Tool for Increased Efficiency

Presented by Argon & Co

Argon & Co partnered with a snack foods company to develop a dynamic scheduling tool in Simio to support production planning across multiple sites and increase operational efficiency. Originally created to generate optimal schedules for two sites, it was later expanded and used for scenario modelling of a greenfield site, informing site design and asset requirements, before being used as the scheduling tool once the new site became operational.
