  1. Hello, I am writing my master thesis on production system design with simulation modeling. I have designed two models in Simio - one for current production system and one for optimized one. They are both designed in a correct way and they work as they are supposed to. The only difference between them is in path lengths. The difference between results from optimized and current system should be 3 - 5 % but for some reason I get all of the results identical to the last decimal place after running an experiment. I have attached a picture of my path properites and travel logic of entities. My guess is that for some reason path length is not being considered in the simulation. If anybody has any ideas what could be wrong, i would really appreciate your help.
  2. Hello River, I downloaded your files. The Gate512 was missing. I removed the information in the "30 Departure.xlxs" file that I can run the model ;-). Generally I understood how it works. Answer to your first question: I think you mean these two ways, right? From the left and from the right. In this case I saw that you used the "Routing Logic" in like all Transfernodes. The Outbound Link Rule is "Shortest Path" and you set the "Node Name" to "Input@Takeoff" Simio is using everytime the shortest link path now. Like in the screenshot below: In my opinion it would be better to set the destination once after the Entity got created in the Source for example :-). There are different ways to do that. In your model I removed all Routing Logic in the Transfernodes and used the Routing Logic only in the Output-TransferNodes of the Sources. In Simio you need only to use one time a SetNode-Step or a Routing-Logic to set the destination of an Entitiy and Simio will follow the paths or travel in the FreeSpace. You can use for example a NodeList with 2 different destinations and this Routing-Logic: With the "Selection Goal" Random Simio will randomly choose the destination from the NodeList. I uploaded you your model with the changes as an example: Problem on the taxiway version 17A.zip What did I changed? 1) I removed the Routing Logic in all TransferNodes. 2) I added new Routing Logic to the TransferNodes of the Output-Node of the Sources. 3) I added a NodeList with 2 new Nodes. 4) In the two new Nodes I used a Nodes-Entered-Process and a Transfer-Step to transfer the Entity to the Input of the Sink. Answer to your second question: You can change the destination of an Entity any time. In the Path (Link) you have a function called "NumberTravelors" for example to get the number of travelors currently on this path. So you can use a Expression like "Path123.NumberTravelors < 2". This can be used to decide if a way is full allready that the other way get selected. Or you can use a Integer-State and count up and down. I would use a Node-Entered-Process in the last possible node with a Decide-Step and two SetNode-Step in this case :-). I hope my answer will help you. When you have any other question, you are welcome! Best regards Pascal
  3. FullGate version 17 (both side take off).spfx We encounter few problems: 1. Why the plane( entities) only go to one side for waiting to take off but not both side used? 2. Any fomular can i add into the simio? The plane will choose which path to go on the taxiway. Such as the plane on the Node 82 if the taxiway A(path 179) had 3 plane waiting but taxiway B (Path 160) had 1 plane waiting, than the plane will choose taxiway B to wait for take off. Gate.xlsx 30 Departure.xlsx
  4. You can use third-party curve-fitting software Stat::Fit and ExpertFit, both support Simio , you need to use latest version of them.
  5. Hi, everyone Hi, everyone I am developing a postgraduate project related to hospital OPD simulation. After collecting each table/room process time, convert all the data into an Excel sheet. I am curious is SIMIO has any tool to analyze the best-fit function from the data (time related) I gathered. Thanks.
  6. Hello I wanna create Blockchain simulation in Simio I have student license, can you please help me how Can i make my topology
  7. Hi Nicolas, I would investigate the Server property called Initial Capacity. This sets how many units of capacity are going to be available for the Server. You could also change this during the run by Assigning the Server's CurrentCapacity State Variable. I suggest checking out the SimBit titled "Worker Uses Work Schedule". You can access the SimBits in the Support ribbon in Simio. In this SimBit, I recommend changing the Initial Capacity for the Servers. You could set them to '6' or any value. When you run, you will see that the entities only move into the Process Station when they have successfully Seized the Secondary Resource. So even though there is 6 units available only 1 will be use when the Worker is able to process the entity. You can also experiment with giving the Worker a different Initial Number In System value so there can be more Workers. You will still see the same behavior; the number of entities that move into the Server for processing will be the number of Workers that were available to be seized. Happy Modeling! Liz
  8. I am working on a model of a production line where one of the work stations is a long work table with six workers at it. These workers perform identical assembly tasks and will sometimes leave the table in order to transport finished items to the next step in production. I am currently representing the work table as a single server. I am wondering if it is possible to dynamically change the server's capacity based on how many workers it is able to seize at a given time. Essentially, the server can process with just one seized worker but can seize up to six. Is this something I can implement with Simio's built in functionality, or is it easier just to represent the six spots in the table as individual servers? Thank you!
  9. Thank you, In our simulation, the plane is used simio "apply symbol" function, so the plant was not draw by us..... so we hardly control what we want What if we change the path to Conveyors? How can we make it?
  10. This is problematic in Simio because Simio considers only entity length (not width) and only when on a Path or Conveyor. I think the first thing to do is fix the nose to tail problem. If you happen to use Conveyors to model this, there are built-in features to manage spacing while stopped and different spacing while moving. But unfortunately Conveyors are limited to a single direction, so are perhaps not appropriate if this is a bi-directional taxiway. If you are using Paths, you can fix this by making each plane longer when you draw it. For example, if you are drawing a plane that is 50M long and you want it to stay at least 10M behind the plane in front of it, place a nearly invisible dot about 10M in front of the plane's nose, making the total plane length (including safety spacing) be 60M. Although Simio will still put the entities nose to tail, there will be a 10M safety spacing between the physical planes. The problem of conflict at merge points is a bit more tedious to fix. I'd recommend a resource-based approach, like illustrated in the SimBit in Merging Conveyors Controlled by Gate. You can use this approach even when using Paths.
  11. We are simulating the aircraft will leaving the gate according to our real data history. How can i import the table in simio and let the aircraft leave the gate accouring to the time and date? Also some gate will have more than one different time and date that aircraft will departure the gate. How can i do it as well?
  12. What you can do is set up a table with a column of DateTime Property for the arrivals and change the Source Arrival Mode accordingly. I strongly recommend you guys to take a look on the Simbits available, they are a really good tool to guide you through your first steps into Simio. For instance, you can find the solution for your problem on a Simbit called AppointmentArrivals.
  13. Many Thx for your help. We have another problem : As we want to be more realistic, we have the data from Hong Kong. How can we input those data (such as departure Gate time) into the simio to let the enttity will departure as schedual ? We already have atleast one month data, can you show us how to make the entity dearture as the time we set accordingly?
  14. I am doing a Final Year Project with Simio. Our topic is discusing the taxiway routing problem to enhance aircraft congustion in the taxiway. Our group are the new to use simio, when we want to do some simulation on the taxiway, we dont know how to increse the same distence between different space of the entity(ie. airplane) in the path(ie. Taxiway). Also how to make the entity stay in the path while waiting the privious plane leave the runway? We would like to do the silulation like this video https://www.simio.com/applications/airports-and-airlines-simulation-software/ 1:08-1:30 Any one can help us?
  15. hey Simio insiders, I am experiencing a problem using rate tables. I want to utilize rate tables to generate a non-stationairy poisson process. I have generated a table with values for 21 hours and the last three hours should be 0. I thought i could either use a rate table with 24 intervals with the last 3 intervals given a value of 0 arrivals. Or i can set a stopping condition at 21 hours. I have set the start time of my simulation at 07:00 (due to worker schedules). I am experiencing the following problems. The rate table seems not to generate the right values at the right times. (i have tried both setting the 0700 values at 0000 and 0700 in the rate table). The rate table does not stop after generating 21 hours of arrivals. In my eventual experiments i want to use 2 different rate tables (using different sources) that I scale to vary arrivals in a specif way. It is quite important that I understand how I can make this work. Do any of you know how I can fix this?
  16. Hi All, I want to do some calculations just before the simulation ends. I did it previous versions without problem but now on version 15.247, "on run ending" add-on process is not being executed.I tested it even on a new simple model file with source server sink. There is just two assign steps with breakpoints on the add-on process. But in model trace it doesnt show the add-process name, the state variable value is not assigned, and breakpoint is not reached. Anyone experiencing the same problem in this version? Is there a quick solution to this? Or do I have to install older version? Kind regards, Tolgahan
  17. Thanks for your answer! I tried to do what you say, but Simio doesn't let me set Worker.RideStation.Capacity as State Variable. Apparently I'm not doing it right
  18. Hey Simio insiders, I have been working on a model with workers. The workers transport goods over a facility, from one server to another. They seem to work perfectly until about 2 hours into the simulation. I have been looking into the the 'watch' properties, and it appears that the worker is waiting for something. This happens eventough i do not have a wait process in place. It waits at a server which it is about to drop an entity. The server input buffer is infinity, since i thought it might have caused the problem. Do any of you know why my worker is waiting?
  19. hello i'm the simio user in south korea i want to make my model flexibily. My model has vehicle and elevator The overall process flow is vehicle take entities to server1, After vehicle arrived to server1, elevator take entities and go to every destination. To work well, Three things are needed for this trend First, i want to do if the vehicle comes to server1 then the elevator goes to upstair Second, the vehecle has to wait until the elevator after been to upstair and arrive to server1 Third, repeat the two steps. how can i solve the problem this model in Model2, not Model1 1veh1eleModel.spfx
  20. Hello! I posted a question while building a human-accessible elevator using SIMIO. The modelentity couldn't build its own system to get off the elevator, so I made the appearance of the elevator using a worker. At this time, I want to make the elevator stop from the low floor to the high floor, but the elevator is stopping randomly. For example, the elevator should stop in the order of the first, second, and third floors, but it stops randomly, such as the third, second, and first floors. I want to know the solution accordingly! I will attach the file for your understanding. Lift Project.spfx

  22. Thank you very much for your help, but simio says I can't use the Release step with the server because I don't have any resources to release. In addition, although the Search step works very well, since I don't have any step that keeps the entities inside the server even if they are not called, they continue to leave the server and merge with entities that should not be merged. If I set the processing time to infinity, despite calling entities with the Search process, the entity does not leave the server. I tried to condition the processing time of each entity according to the "Ventana_de_entrega" state, but as expected, it is not the most appropriate. 21.10.spfx
  23. Hi There, I have lots of experience in simulation but I'm new to Simio - my apologies if my Simio vocabulary/conceptualization is off or if this question has been asked already. I'm working to build a queue model simulation with a network of services and multiple staff types. In my mind, it makes the best sense to do this using the standard library of servers and resource pools (to visualize the network for stakeholders and be able to model multiple staff with different schedules that can each respond to multiple services). Right now, I am starting with a single stage M/M/c type queue to make sure that my implementation is correct before scaling this upwards. I checked out the SimBit titled 'Source – Server – Sink' that has three different M/M/c implementations; however, none of them use Resource Pool objects or combine process triggers with the standard library. I was able to implement a basic model that tries to combine a resource pool with a server by triggering separate Seize and Release process triggers on entry to the server object and after the processing time is completed, respectively. It runs without error; however, the results for average time in system (calculated by an average of a tally statistic that is only recorded for every 500th customer/entity), the results are one third less than in a scenario where I don't use a resource pool and set the capacity of the server explicitly, (which I validated against M/M/c formulae results). Does anyone have tips for how to link servers and resource pools and troubleshoot this scenario? Is there a SimBit or other example out there that is relevant? Am I triggering the seize/resource processes at the wrong points in time? Or is my framework for how to conceptualize this in the Simio environment missing a key concept? Thanks!!
  24. Make sure SimioAPI.dll, SimioAPI.Extensions.dll and SimioAPI.Graphics.dll are not in the ...\Documents\SimioUserExtensions folder. If there are older version of these DLL in this folder, you will get this error message. It is best practice to not have these DLL in this folder. If there are not in this folder, Simio will find them in its executable folder. If you create your own Visual Studio project and compile into this folder, make sure you set the "Copy Local" == False.
  25. Hi - first of all, this add-in is awesome! Thank you!! I'm running Simio software version 15.244.28783.0 and just encountered this error: Wondering if IModel was updated to require get_ActiveModel(). I haven't tried running this on an older version - will attempt that if I can make the time. Can you point me in a direction? Unfortunately, I won't be able to share the model.
