  1. Simio academic offering is not compatible with commercial offering. There is no way to convert the model to be workable in commercial version by the end-user.
  2. Description of Runtime Capability Runtime is the ability for people to execute a Simio model without investing in that design-time version of Simio. Simio imposes no limits to the number of models you can distribute or the number of people you distribute to. And you are free to distribute outside of your organization if you choose. There is no charge for any such distribution. Two runtime modes are available: Interactive Runtime Uses Simio Evaluation Version which is available free to anyone and may be used without activation. It provides the ability to load a model, run it interactively to view the animation, and even change the model at will. Model changes cannot be saved nor is the capability provided to run experiments or execute custom user-written steps and elements. Only Simio Team Edition is capable of creating models that will run in Interactive Runtime. Full Runtime Uses Simio Express Edition. In addition to the substantial modeling features built into Express, it provides the ability to load and run models, save model changes, run experiments, and execute custom user-written steps and elements. Design and Team Editions can create models for use with Full Runtime.
  3. Hello,

i would like to know if its possible to track the different values for a user defined MyModelEntity state.

In my case, i created different states like MyModelEntity.MaterialCosts and MyModelEntity.HoldingCosts, ...TransportCosts ... etc.

The values are summed up in a state called MyModelEntity.ProductionCosts.

This state is shown as a dynamic label text in my model, so i can see the production cost value at the actual time.

But is it possible to see the different values of the MyModelEntity states that make up the production costs for instance during different periods of times in the simulation or at any time?

Because i would like to see the values of my states like MyModelEntity.MaterialCosts  at certain times in the simulation.

    Thank you!

  4. I am trying to make a routing decision based on the Candidate node's routerequestqueue's summation of the entities user-defined property. If there are different types of entities with ex. different priority levels. I would like the routing process to choose the transfernode which has the smallest total sum of it's entities priority level. the transfernode that needs to be chosen also has a routing group attached to its entity destination type rule where its final machine has 0 buffer and due to a blocked destination rule, there will be a queue build up at the transfernode that needs to be chosen. I have thought about using a state variable for each node and using add-on process each time a unit enters and leaves a node but because the main model has many multiple nodes the node's entity priority sum has to be able to be accessed through the candidate.transfernode._________________. For example during the routing step in the process section, I have candidate.transfernode.destinationroutinggroupname.routerequestqueue which gives me the node's number of units waiting, but i need to be able to access the candidate nodes summed queued property. Is there either a way to directly access this information, have looked at the expressions and having a hard time finding something. failed attempt: candidate.transfernode.destinationroutinggroupname.routerequestqueue.population.defaultentity.priority.summation or is there a way to use the add-on process where i am adding/subtracting the priority levels, but somehow attach it to the candidate.transfernode's property Hopefully this makes sense. If you look at the file, please ignore the upper half and focus on the transfer nodes maintransfer, transfernode1 and transfernode1_1. maintransfer has an entered add-onprocess which is the subject of this question. the route process and it's selection expression is what I'm trying to adjust but find a way to express the candidate transfernodes of transfernode1 and transfernode1_1 (which are part of the XferRouting group). I'd like to choose and compare the total summed priority level of each node's queue. Simple_Routing.spfx

  6. I think this could be helpful as well - do you have an example of this working? Because I thought the experiment tab it required the user to grab directly from a predefined list in the simulation? Like it is not text accesible?
  7. Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has a good idea for how to view a resource's utilization according to the day of the week in the pivot grid of an experiment? Currently, my best idea is to just have a status plot in the facility window to illustrate this but I'd prefer to have an average utilization by day of resources in the pivot table. The scenario I'm working with is having "technician" resources that are being seized by server objects to do "maintenance" on the truck entities coming into the maintenance shop. I'd like to see which days of the week are the busiest so I could determine where to schedule new technicians. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Pit-To-Bay Off-Shift Rule Fixed.spfx
  8. hello i'm the simio user in south korea i want to make my model flexibily. My model has vehicle and elevator The overall process flow is vehicle take entities to server1, After vehicle arrived to server1, elevator take entities and go to every destination. To work well, Three things are needed for this trend First, i want to do if the vehicle comes to server1 then the elevator goes to upstair Second, the vehecle has to wait until the elevator after been to upstair and arrive to server1 Third, repeat the two steps. how can i solve the problem this model in Model2, not Model1 1veh1eleModel.spfx
  9. I need to calculate patient throughput using user-defined statistics but I am not sure how to calculate throughput in Simio. I´ve tried different approaches unsuccessfully so far... Could this be the right expression: Sink1.NumberDestroyed/Timenow? Does anyone know what is the general process for doing this? Thank you, Juan C.

  16. My name is Breno Souza and I have already done some questions on Simio User Facebook group about my model. I am working in the Automation Strategies Laboratory of the Computing Department of Federal University of São Carlos. As computer engineering students, we have to model more complex models in order to validate our researchs, using some dispatching rules for Automated Guided Vehicles using Genetic Algorithms, and we also use complex algorithm systems to the production scheduling using some ERPs integrated with the simulation model. The suggested solution, by Mr. Sturrock, on the Facebook group, using decision nodes for each part type in each process production, means limiting our model, decreasing the flexibility of our factory and our programming possibilities, since that we cannot specify complex rules both for dispatching and routing. We are mainly concerned about specifying manufacturing production sequences using programming, due our complex and several routing rules. We would like to know if is possible to control the simulation, mainly specifying routings, using some programme language. We have used Automod some years ago, and it was possible to specify alternative routings and some control logics using C++ programming. Is that possible in SIMIO? Are there examples on that? How can we integrate our model with some ERP or SCADA system? Would be possible doing that using some factory floor protocol, such as OPC? My past doubts (posted on Simio Users Facebook group) are attached. Yours faithfully, Breno de Oliveira Souza Computer Engineering Undergraduate Student Researcher at Automation Strategies Laboratory Federal University of São Carlos ---------------------------------------------------------- Hello everyone, I'm a new SIMIO user and I have a problem on my model. Let me give a brief explanation about my model. I am modeling a Flexible Manufacturing System, where different parts are produced by different machines. I have many different entities (parttypes) that follow each one a different process sequence. Each part type pass through about 10 process. I have already seen examples where the sequence is modeled by using the sequence tables. However, my problem is due, for each process, a entity could be processed by different machines. For example, the part type A has the following sequence: M1 OR M2 -> M3 OR M4 -> M5 OR M6 OR M7 and so on.. I'd like to know how I can put this "OR" im my model... I don't think I can use the sequence tables, since that I am not able to use expressions on that. I really would appreciate if u could help me. If I wasnt understandable, pls let me know. Thank you very much for your attention. -------------------------------------------------------------
  17. Hi, I am trying to build an object library for an airport terminal. For this, I build the objects as separate models and place them in a 'sampleairport' model for testing them all together. The 'sampleairport' model contains all the objects, so it has no issue referencing to properties from the placed objects. However the other way around does not seem possible. For example; I want the user to import a standard format flight schedule, which will be uploaded in the 'sampleaiport' model. Now I need to reference this table from the other models, but Simio does not allow me to do this? Is there a way I can reference the table or other properties from models in my other models? Thank you Jason
  18. try simproj format , read it in user manual...basically xml stuff..
  19. I often see that the recommended place to install UserExtensions (dlls) is in the the user's documents (i.e. C:\Users\\Documents\SimioUserExtensions), but I would just like to point out for network admins that installing it to the Simio installation directory works too, and can save having to copy files on login to user directories. Example path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Simio\UserExtensions
  20. If you are binding a table to SQL Server Express, use the following connection properties If using SQL Server Security, you can specify the server name, database name, user id and password in the fields that are provided. If using Windows security, use a custom connection string. In the connection string, specify the server (e.g. Server=.\SQLExpress), database (e.g. Database=MESDB) and Trusted_Connection=True
  21. The answer is no! If you call MATLAB via user generated MATLAB step simio will temporarily suspend till the outgoing token will return (with a value or not). If you add a breakpoint, simio will come to a "full stop". This means simio can not send any token to run/call matlab/codes. Most likely your problem is that the matlab user defined step does not work properly. If it works properly you need not to stop simio anyway. Try to locate the required files appropriately or check your visual studio edition etc.? I am not sure what is the problem but the .dll file can be outdated?
  22. This can be done by calling c# from simio and calling Matlab from c# with Simio API. Details can be found here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1569190X16301356 And here: https://www.simio.com/resources/events/2018-User-Group-Meeting/presentations/API.pdf But another problem is that how do we pause Simio until the MATLAB problem is finished? Any suggestions on this?
  23. Hi Glen, I need your support for an error that I have to manage very often. My company set an automatic backup on One Drive and that is creating problem to load your Add-In. The body of the error is the following: Exception in loading types from 'C:\Users\username\OneDrive \documents\.\SimioUserExtensions\ExportImportModelAddIn.dll', message: 'Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Users\username\OneDrive\documents\SimioUserExtensions\ExportImportModelAddIn.dll' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515)' Loading 'C:\Users\username\OneDrive\documents\.\SimioUserExtensions\ExportImportModelAddIn.dll' may have failed because the DLL was copied from another computer and has been blocked by Windows. To unblock it, copy the file to a user writable directory, right click on it and select Properties, on the General tab, click Unblock, then click OK, and then copy it back to your UserExtensions folder if necessary. Off course the file is unblocked, do you have some suggestion to fix it? Simio version is 11.197.19514.0
  24. The Simio product and its documentation is obviously created in English but we would like to expand that availability. Software As of this writing (April 2013) the Simio software is currently available in English and German. But the software has been designed from the start to be translatable. In fact we can quickly create a Google translation in any language, but unfortunately while that can be a good start of a translation, it's accuracy is not good enough to serve as a finished product. So we are looking for any volunteers who would like to see Simio in their native language. Textbooks We currently have book translations in Spanish (both books), Portuguese, Mongolian, and Italian. We are looking for additional translations and the translator(s) will be acknowledged as co-authors on the translated edition. Royalties will also be shared, but given the relatively small quantities and low book price your motivation should probably be mainly "fame and glory". Training and Other Materials Volunteers have also translated selected training and other supporting materials. We are always anxious to have this type of user participation to help the broader community. Existing and new materials will be available in this forum. Software Features A few features have been added to the software to make it easier to use in other cultures. One such feature is a setting to control the separator character used in CSV files which now defaults to your systems culture setting. Please let us know if additional such features are necessary. If you or your team are interested in helping with any of the above, please contact me directly. (dsturrock@simio.com)
