  1. I am trying to load models into a licensed version of SIMIO RPS that have been created in the academic version of Simio. I am getting a meesage that states that these non-commercial models cannot be loaded into a commercial version of Simo. Is there a way to load theses non-commercial models into the licensed version of Simio RPS? I would like to be able to take advantage in using these academic models to provide solutions that we are identifying.
  2. Hello everyone, I am creating a new "customize" model and try to enable addon process, but I cannot find this option in the following list.
  3. Hello, i am using the Financials Properties in Simio. In this simple model, i have parameters for different cost types (see in the picture). All the cost types are used with the default financial states. The dynamic label of the ModelEntiy shows the expression "ModelEntity.Cost", so it roll all the cost components up in the particular entity. The entity in the processing has a value of 76.84. (rolled up) Now my question is, is it possible to see all the cost components for all my model entity, for example as a expression in a floor label or in a data table. Thank you!
  4. Hello! So I am using a source that is sending out 9 different entities, each with a priority 1-9. They are listed in a Data table called 'Part Data' This is the 'Table Row Referencing' call I am using in 'Before Creating Entities' in the 'Row Number' section: PartData.Priority.RandomRow I want to switch this to use a Random.Normal(mean, sd) - is that possible with discrete values in the table? Thank you for any help you can provide!
  5. Here is a simple utility that will export, import and delete artifacts of your model. Here is a screen shot of the available capabilities. The code and DLL have can be found on SImio GitHub. Please find at this link: https://github.com/SimioLLC/ExportImportModelAddIn You will also find install instructions in the ReadMe. Here are the changes that have happend over time: Updated 2023-01-31....Added the ability to select multiple tables for export and delete table data functions. Updated 2022-10-05....Updated the exports to sort the data first my name and then export. This ensures that the data exported is in a consistent order. Updated 2021-12-07....Added the ability to select a table and then remove the data from the selected table. If a table name is not selected, all the tables in the model will have their data removed. Updated 2021-09-20....Added Update Model Properties (CSV). With this new method, you can import model properties into your model. If the file contains 3 fields...First is name, then type and last is default value. The only valid types are real, datetime, Boolean and everything else is string. If the model property already exists, it will only update the default value on the property. Note: The example assumes the field separator is a caret '^'. To change this, you need to change the delimiter field. Updated 2021-09-08....Updated the sequence of the exports, deletes and imports happen. When OK is pressed, first the exports are run, then deletes and finally the imports. With this change, I am able to Export Table to DB, Delete Table Data and Import Table from DB from in a single run. I typically do this when re-mapping auto creates elements. Since the table data need to be removed and recreated before mapping of the elements are correctly mapped. Updated 2021-09-06....Upgraded to .NET 4.7.2. Also, fixed the windows form so it displays correctly. When opened, the form should no longer need to be expanded to see all the options. Updated 2018-11-08....Added Export To CSV, Export To DB and Import From DB. Export To DB will create a table in the SQL Server database with the same table name as the table in Simio. The data columns will be of type nvarchar(max) and the default value will be the same as the default value in the Simio table. It is assumed that Simio desktop will still do the data validation, not the database. This feature is used to save the Simio data into a database so it is backed up and can be shared across users. Each time the Export To DB, if the table already exists, it is dropped, and a new table is created. This ensures that the data schemas match between the Simio model and the SQL Server database. Updated 2017-12-05....Fixed index issue with links import. Updated 2017-09-25....Fixed the import of lists. Updated 2017-07-14....Added the ability to auto generate and auto read files. Previously, the files needed to be created prior to running the add-in. Now, they will create by the export. Also, the import will retrieve the same file generated by the export. These options are available when the "Auto Generate and Read Files" option is selected. Updated 2017-07-13....Added the ability to multi-select options. Now, more than one option can be initiated when the OK button is selected. This will streamline the process of exporting, deleting and importing. This tool is very helpful for testing out your model with various configurations to ensure that runs properly under various object and/or data configuration. Updated 2017-07-11....Now supports exporting and importing of model properties, exporting and importing of table properties and delete table data. Updated 2017-06-22....Now supports exporting and importing of data tables using XML. This is simple way to export all the table data from one model and import the same data into a new model (assuming that the same tables schema exists in the new model). Updated 2017-01-27....Now supports exporting of object types using XML. This can be used with the new Configure Scheduling Resources in Simio 9.150 capabilities to define your own object type properties based on an XML document. Updated 2017-01-23....Now supports exporting and importing objects using XML. When using XML, property units are also exported and imported back in. Updated 2016-10-24....Updated files...Added support for repeating properties.
  6. I want to create a list of materials from data table. I can refer to inventory replenishment policy from table by adding by adding "replenishment policy" property from data tables. But how do I define the default values of Re order point and Up to Level parameters for these auto-created materials? I cannot see such option even in the built in Material Table Scheme. Any help is really appreciated. Kind regards
  7. Hi all, I want to create a list of tasks from data table which I will use in the server objects tasks sequence. When I want to refer to all of the properties of material requirements to data tables, I am facing a restriction as follows: a) I can refer the material "Action Type" (Consume\Produce) property from server object to data table by adding an "MaterialActionType" enumeration property to data table. b) If referencing in a) was NOT done, for the selected action type (lets say produce was selected), I can refer the "production type" (Material/Bill of Materials) property by adding a "MaterialOptions" enumeration property to data table. However, when I do the task in a) an additional row appears in server object, now showing both consumption type and production type in properties. Then I am unable to set reference to data table as in b) any more. Is it possible to refer BOTH "Action Type" (Consume/Produce) and "Material Options" (Material/BOM) simulatenously? If yes how? Could you please guide? Kind regards, Tolgahan
  8. Hi, I want to generate one type of product with one interarrival time. I have one source and one model entity. However, this entity can have different lengths following probabilities. Depending on these properties, the processing times at the servers will be shorter or longer. I tried to assign a state to the entity before this entity exits the source so ModelEntity.Length becomes DataLength.prob.randomrow. where DataLength is a table with the different lengths and the probabilities associated with those Lengths. The only thing is that it is a property and not a state, but I do not know how to do it in another way. Afterwards, I have different processing times at the servers depending on the different characteristics of my entity. For example, server1 will have different processing times depending on the length. How can I reference to the good processing time say I have added a column to the table DataLength with the associated processingtimes according to the lengths? Finally, I would also like keep track of those different lengths generated and see what the model produced in the end. Thank you for your help, Emilie
  9. Hello. I have a vehicle that moves through Top level model to Submodel. However, Entity in Submodel Could not Call the vehicle in the top level model. Thoughts as to why it gets stuck here? RideOnTransporter_In_Submodel.spfx
  10. Hi All,

In my model, I have a transfer node and the entity could go to either of the next 2 serves as in the picture.

I have assigned product number(1,2,3...) to entities …., if product “1” moves from transfer node to S1 and the next product is also “1”, it should also move to S1 and if the product number changes its should change the server to S2. So the entire batch gets processed on one server.

After processing from S1 and S2 the entity should flow in batch so that at S3 I have batch production

Right now the entities go based on “By Link Weight” and randomly goes to the server which affects S1,S2,S3 servers setup time

Any thoughts how can that be achieved, I do not want to setup a sequence table.

  11. Hi, I am trying to build an object library for an airport terminal. For this, I build the objects as separate models and place them in a 'sampleairport' model for testing them all together. The 'sampleairport' model contains all the objects, so it has no issue referencing to properties from the placed objects. However the other way around does not seem possible. For example; I want the user to import a standard format flight schedule, which will be uploaded in the 'sampleaiport' model. Now I need to reference this table from the other models, but Simio does not allow me to do this? Is there a way I can reference the table or other properties from models in my other models? Thank you Jason
  12. Hello, I am interested in doing a simulation model with a colleague. Because of this we want to reduce the workload by dividing the tasks to be done. Is it possible or is there any way to join different files (models) into a final one? Or copy objects from one model to another? Thanks in advance.
  13. Hi All, I'm currently using a old working model and copy-pasted a process from another working model. The process uses a couple of assign using ModelEntity State variables. However when I recreate them in the model where I copied the process, I can't use them I always get an error (and orange box). Those State variables were working find in the old model. Anyone knows why I can't copy them in another model ? Tks to all. Janik
  14. Hi All,

In my Model I have a input table and while trouble shooting if I have to pick a particular order as in the below screen shot, it takes a while to search the same( I have approx. 2000 rows). Are their any efficient methods to search a particular row in table if not can this be added as a feature in Simio's next update? Right now its a drop down and then the order needs to be searched.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Unmesh

  16. How do I access a table column by name using a table property defined for the model? In my model, I have multiple data tables each with the same named columns defined for each. Each table has a different number of rows. For a run or a set of replications, I want to select a table to use. I have defined a model-level table property named _SelectedTable to support this. During simulation runs, I want to access this selected table's data by row and column name. Specifically, I want to use this data to update model entity state variables. I also want to stop creating entities when all of the rows of the table have been accessed. I've tried two partial solutions to this problem (attached), but neither are ideal. 1. Create a large set of decide add-on processes to choose the decide the correct table and explicitly reference it by its name. This requires a lot of redundant steps and maintenance if tables are added or removed. The attached example contains just two tables. Controls OptionId and _SelectedTable must be set to either (Option1 and tableOption1) or (Option2 and tableOption2). The first control selects the Entity Type and the second selects the Table. 2. Using the column index number instead of the column name, I found I can use the table property to access the selected table. This method is prone to error if the table schema changes. It is also unclear which table properties, such as "AvailableRowCount" are accessible via this approach. The attached example contains two tables just as the previous. The control _SelectedTable chooses which table from which data is acccessed. In practice, the data tables will be substantially larger than the ones included in the attachments. Looking forward to constructive guidance, Ryan table_selection_by_name.spfx table_selection_by_column_number.spfx
  17. Hi All,

I am repeatedly getting this (attached picture) error in my Simio Model, what could be the probable cause and what should I make sure so that this problem does not repeat?

I have added transfer, end transfer step in my process logic.

I also have made sure I have enough storage capacity and also enough vehicles to complete the transfer.

    any suggestions would be helpful.

    Thank you :)

  18. This is something I have been meaning to implement for a while, and now have finally decided it needs to be done. I have a submodel, and due to the limitations of the software can't transfer it into the submodel and keep the model clean. I followed advice posted here, and have made the submodel seize the worker and send it to a node in the higher level model... while the submodel is in progress. Is there a nice efficient way to have the worker/vehicle (vehicles are the new worker in terms of having all the functionality i require) able to interrupt the submodel and either remember where it was up to and return after break... or allow another seize request for a different worker, and have that worker continue where it was left off?
  19. Hello, I am fairly new to Simio and having a bit of an issue trying to understand how I can create the pull down option for "ModelEntity.Row", when trying using an "Assign" step to set the Entity Weight. I hope this makes sense and I have attached a few pictures. The first is a screenshot of my process in the simulation I am working, and as can be seen I do not get an option that reads "ModelEntity.Row" and/or "ModelEntity.RowOreWaste". the last two pictures are from simulations I am using as reference when creating my process and simulation model. thank you
  20. Dear Simio employee, I have two questions about 'getting' the average holding time for all the realisations of my subclassed vehicle. I want to know how long an entity is on a vehicle, on average. I tried it with two processes, but both don't work. I don't understand why the following doesn't work (process GemTijdOpAGV): And I also don't understand why the process TijdContainerOpVoertuig doesn't work. I don't understand the error: 'Model Entity does not match the model', or something like that. I created two instances of de model entity, named 'container and pallet', but it seems like I can't use model entity in some processes and in others I can. Why is that and when can you use model entity and when not? (This is also true for instances of a vehicle.) I have attached the model below, but it is still in progress. I hope to hear from you soon! 21. As we approach our final stage of our bachelor studies, it is necessary to write a bachelor thesis. In this context we are developing a Simio Plugin, which enables advanced model-management and more important, model-comparison. Our main objective is to provide the Simio Community a properly working Plugin, which improves the modelling process itself and the usability within large Simio-projects. What could you expect? Functionality We separate the plugin in two logical components. The first one is called Modelmanagement. The features of this component are the following: • Versioning models • Clone an existing model The interesting part on this feature is the clone mechanic. You are now able to create an identic clone of an existing Simio-model, which can be altered afterwards. This functionality is key to the comparison process. With this clone-function, each clone now represents a version of your base-model. The clones can be altered autonomically. It enables to test and experiment with the behavior of your model, without many workarounds. It may help you to even optimize your model. The second and more focused feature is the ModelComparer. Once you are done cloning and altering your models, this feature helps you to compare several experiments. The comparison isn’t only limited to experiments within one model, you can compare all the cloned experiments as well. Our model-comparison compares responses of several, different experiments. You can now compare all your clones to determine which one is the most efficient. What are we delivering at this point and why? Attached to this post you can find several files. To ease the installation and setup process of the Plugin, we also created an installer. The installer will setup the required changes and files for our Plugin. It is easy to use and enables the full functionality, like a normal software-installer. Second, we wrote a short manual to show you the features of the Plugin and illustrated it with pictures. Our goal is to gahter feedback as early as possible. Currently, we are in the middle of development and are eager to improve the tool even more. We ask you for your feedback, because it is very important for us to find out, if the tool is viable, how its usability is and if the provided functionality is even appreciated within the community. As we mentioned we are halfway through the development-process, the possibility is given, that some bugs or errors may occur. We also would be very pleased if you could take the time to report these and your experience with the tool and fill in the online survey. Your feedback is very appreciated! 22. Hello everyone, First time here! I'm trying to combine 2 different models in the same file, the model on the left will create the model entities (colored dots below the model) and send them to the model on the right through the node OUT2, then, on the right model, the vehicle will pick the entity and decide its destination depending on the type of entity, the issue here is that the right model can't identify the entity as it's created on another model and will be called "Model1.Entity" instead of "Entity", i don't know how to ignore the "Model1."part. I've tried to use model entity's state variables, hoping to be able to read them with the expression "ModelEntity.NameOfVariable", but i can't seem to assign values as it says that "Specified name was not found". Fusing both models in the same model it's not an option as i want to be able to make different configurations. Thanks! CONFIGURADOR.spfx
  23. Hi, I have several sources that create the same container entity, yet every container entity created carries out different tasks throughout the model. I would like to change properties of specific container entities, for example, each time the container entity in "lane 1" gets filled, it changes the speed of that container entity (not of all the population of container entities). How can I do this? Thank you!!!
  24. Hello, If I have created a list state variable (The list just contains each day of the week. ie: "Sunday", "Monday", "Tuesday", etc...) and I want to assign a new value in a state assignment of the facility to a particular day within the list state variable how can I do this? It seems like I can only reference the List State Variable as a whole but I don't know how to assign values to the contents of the variable.... Thanks!
  25. My simulation has one entity - patients. Each patient is assigned to a state that defines their patient class, but this state is to be updated every three hours. The probability of moving to a state in the future is dependent on the current state, so it's a classic Marcov chain. Right now I have a very complicated and error-prone process that models the state reassignment logic. It involves many conditional and probabilistic decision nodes with manually entered numbers and subsequent assignment nodes. I would like to clean this process to reduce the probability of programming error by using data tables, but cannot figure out how to do so. Is it possible to reference entity states in a data table to model the decision-making?
