  1. Thank you for the quick and detailed response! I see the error I was making with work schedule and have tested it on one server, it seems to work as intended. Since each of my servers have a different capacity, would I need to create a unique work week and unique day type for them all? Or is there a quicker work around? The manual inputs for the date time are a great work around, I'm only modeling for a few years so I don't mind inputting a few dates. What I mean by there being no buffers is that no server can have a queue. I used a list for selecting the destination on the output node of each source (total of 8 ) where it's a hierarchy. It can go to a select number of servers and if all of them are full it goes to a dummy server of infinite capacity that exits the items to an overflow sink.
  2. We are simulating the aircraft will leaving the gate according to our real data history. How can i import the table in simio and let the aircraft leave the gate accouring to the time and date? Also some gate will have more than one different time and date that aircraft will departure the gate. How can i do it as well?
  3. Hi everyone! In the project I'm developing I need something similar to what was done on the Simbit "EntityFollowsSequence". The difference is that I need to be able to change the destinations (update the contents of the sequence table) over time (the number of rows of the table can be fixed, although it would be ideal if they could be dynamically created). Could someone please explain how it would be possible to do this? My edition is NOT Enterprise. Thanks.
  4. Hi, everyone I am developing a postgraduate project related to hospital OPD simulation. In one examination room, there will have a round 5 to 6 doctor using this room during the week. Now I am facing one problem, because every doctor process have difference processing time(function) as picture below(The number is doctor ID). Is there any method to set a difference process time during every shift in one server? or I have to create a process for this them?
  5. Hello, I am writing my master thesis on production system design with simulation modeling. I have designed two models in Simio - one for current production system and one for optimized one. They are both designed in a correct way and they work as they are supposed to. The only difference between them is in path lengths. The difference between results from optimized and current system should be 3 - 5 % but for some reason I get all of the results identical to the last decimal place after running an experiment. I have attached a picture of my path properites and travel logic of entities. My guess is that for some reason path length is not being considered in the simulation. If anybody has any ideas what could be wrong, i would really appreciate your help.
  6. Thank you We follow your method by importing the about 1000 data from excel using Key and Foreign Key. But the simulation is wrong that the all aircraft depart their gate once in different time but not individually according to date and time that we import. Maybe it is a large file to you that over 200 item for u to run, but can you help me find what's wrong with it? 20230315 FullGate version 4.spfx
  7. I have a table that allowcate 5 gates will have different entity will launch in specify date and time. How can i do it ? We are designing a airport simulate aircraft departure its gate.

  9. Hi, I'm having trouble with unit conversion when doing state assignments at a source. There are two different cases where this problem appears in the model: Subtracting TimeNow minus a Date Time state variable (ModelEntity.stWaitingListEntryDate) Although the specified unit for this property is 'Days', the assigned value is in hours and the unit is also 'Hours'. If I manually convert it by dividing by 24, the assigned value is in days, but the displayed unit is still ‘Hours’. Unit conversion issue when assigning a new value to a state variable from a data table Although the PatientsData.MaxWaitingTime is a real property with default unit ‘Days’, the assigned value to the state variable is converted to ‘Hours’. As in the first case, if I manually convert it by dividing by 24, the assigned value is in days, but the displayed unit is still ‘Hours’. In the attached model (time_units_conversion.spfx) you will find a simple example where you can see this in more detail. Any suggestions to solve this issue will be highly appreciated. Thank you and best regards, Nicolina

I was able to reference the table on the main model to the submodel and thus pass the values. However, on the create object of the submodel I was not able to set/reference the property for the ArrivalTimeProperty property of the Source. Can somebody help me please? Thanks. Model.spfx

  15. Hello, could you please explain the difference between entity, model entity and the defaultEntity and give me examples where I have to use which reference in an expression? Thanks a lot! Regards Nadine
  16. Hello!

In reference to your question "How to use Simio as an external simulation routine (respectively, how to control Simio from other software e.g., R)?", did you figure out an answer that suited your needs?

I saw that your question post in SI General Discussions received a post from lstretton. What was the follow-up on that? I am unsure of where to go to get further information on the steps for that. I'm new on the forum.

My problem seems to run in line with yours. I have data that populates an excel csv file and I want to import that into Simio for my simulation. Eventually I would like to automate the runs of a bunch of difference replications, potentially with R or Python or something like that.

    Thanks, ftiller

  17. Hi Everyone, I have 100s of different products in a warehouse and I want to get statistics for all of them such as distance travelled, number entered and exited. So I created the entity instances for each product automatically through data table. The entity.totaldistancetraveled function doesnt increase since the entity doesnt moveby itself but moved by forklift instead. So I have created a state variable called "distanceonforklift" and increased by the difference between the forklift total distance travelled value when entity exits and enters to forklift. I have also created a function called "distancefunction" on the entity and equated it to "distanceonforklift" state variable of the entity. For the return type of function I have chosen "number" and set the unit to "length". I validated that both distance state variable and function is calculated correctly in the facility window. However I cannot output the result of this state variable on the model results screen. I used the following expression under model outputstatistic but it didnt work. "ProductA.DistanceFunction". That expression gives me 0 value although there are some entities of this product which enters and exits the system. How can I see the average total distance travelled on forklift for the whole population of Product A?
  18. Hi, I am trying to use an assign step to assign a date/time state from a table to an entity. When I try to run the model, I get the following error: "Referenced definition type 'PaxEntity' does not match Executing type 'Entrance'. Entrance in this case is a source object. What is this executing type it is talking about? Any ideas on how to fix this are also appreciated. Kind regards, Jason Airport Library.spfx
  19. So this may be an easy answered question, but I'm at a roadblock. I want to have an entity wait in a server until a specific date and time. Once that date and time is reached within the model run, I need it to fire and move to the next server. This would be easy if it were one entity, but essentially a batch all arrives at different times and then needs to wait until that date/time to ALL move at the same time into a combiner. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Hello, I was wondering if someone can help me with doing sensitivity analysis in Simio? So I know of the input parameters tab where I can see how much does the Objective function change by changing the time input parameters by 1 minute. But, I'm looking to see how much does a variation in a property in the model, for instance changing mis-identification rate, on the DIDO time and objective function. My thought process was just to run different scenarios and take the difference between the two and that would tell me how much it has a change. Yet, my professor suggested the following and I was still confused about how to do it: "So you can ESTIMATE a derivative by just COMPUTING (g(x + h) – g(x))/h for a small h. This is called “finite differences.” Thus, you can estimate sensitivities by running simulation experiments at different settings. In your case, if p is the nominal probability of misidentification, you can run an experiment at p + h also, then estimate the sensitivity by taking differences. Simio’s internal sensitivity analysis is able to estimate derivatives using a trick that works in some, but not all cases, without the need for an additional run. But when it does not apply you need a different method."
  21. Llario, Thank you for the offer. You are correct that I don't see many current sales in Bulgaria. Do you think a Bulgarian translation of the software would make a significant difference? It is fairly easy to generate a machine translation, but can be fairly tedious to clean up mistakes in the machine translation.

  23. "And, in facility layout you can set date time property of the model to 11.5.2020 00:00:00 for generating entity A or 11.5.2020 00:00:01 for generating entity B" how do you mean that?
  24. For a quick solution to your problem for now you can try to define a date time property in model and then set different values to different entity types in table1 date time property column. For example, set date time property as 11.5.2020 00:00:00 for entity A and set 11.5.2020 00:00:01 for entity B. And, in facility layout you can set date time property of the model to 11.5.2020 00:00:00 for generating entity A or 11.5.2020 00:00:01 for generating entity B. Is it possible? If you want to try this option you should not use my previous approach then.
  25. I have attached a simple example of one approach. 1) I edited the ModelEntity object and added a state array of type MatrixFromTable. This type of array is automatically initialized from a table. Ideally I might have also added a table to the entity, but Simio doesn't work that way. Instead, I added a RepeatGroup named InitializationValues consisting of a Real property. I used this repeat group as a way to essentially add a "table" into the object, since internal to Simio there is almost no difference between a table and a repeat group. 2) Back in the model I added a table and then imported data into that table from Excel. I used 10 rows, but I could have imported 350 rows with no change to anything else. 3) Now when you place the ModelEntity object into a model, you can pass a table into the InitializationValues repeat group. Again, intead of just typing a bunch of values into the repeat group, I just say go get the whole repeat group from a specified table. This has the result of sizing that state array inside the model entity to match the current size of the table, and then initializing the state values to whatever is in the table. 4) If you run the model, you can open the Watch window on any entity and view the values of its states. I expect this won't solve all your problems, but maybe it will give you a fresh approach to consider. ImportStateValues.spfx ImportStateValues.xlsx
