Hi There, I have lots of experience in simulation but I'm new to Simio - my apologies if my Simio vocabulary/conceptualization is off or if this question has been asked already. I'm working to build a queue model simulation with a network of services and multiple staff types. In my mind, it makes the best sense to do this using the standard library of servers and resource pools (to visualize the network for stakeholders and be able to model multiple staff with different schedules that can each respond to multiple services). Right now, I am starting with a single stage M/M/c type queue to make sure that my implementation is correct before scaling this upwards. I checked out the SimBit titled 'Source – Server – Sink' that has three different M/M/c implementations; however, none of them use Resource Pool objects or combine process triggers with the standard library. I was able to implement a basic model that tries to combine a resource pool with a server by triggering separate Seize and Release process triggers on entry to the server object and after the processing time is completed, respectively. It runs without error; however, the results for average time in system (calculated by an average of a tally statistic that is only recorded for every 500th customer/entity), the results are one third less than in a scenario where I don't use a resource pool and set the capacity of the server explicitly, (which I validated against M/M/c formulae results). Does anyone have tips for how to link servers and resource pools and troubleshoot this scenario? Is there a SimBit or other example out there that is relevant? Am I triggering the seize/resource processes at the wrong points in time? Or is my framework for how to conceptualize this in the Simio environment missing a key concept? Thanks!!

I'm trying to initialize a model with over a 100,000 entities of the same type. However, when I do so, I get a warning "the number of active entities in the simulation has exceeded 20,000 objects". If I continue, Simio basically crashes after a few minutes. I tried to scale everything down by a factor of 1000, but then when I try to create entities in quantities < 1, it doesn't seem any entities get created. So my question is how do I balance out the need to have 100,000+ entities and the need to be able to create new ones on a much smaller scale (10s for example). Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Make sure SimioAPI.dll, SimioAPI.Extensions.dll and SimioAPI.Graphics.dll are not in the ...\Documents\SimioUserExtensions folder. If there are older version of these DLL in this folder, you will get this error message. It is best practice to not have these DLL in this folder. If there are not in this folder, Simio will find them in its executable folder. If you create your own Visual Studio project and compile into this folder, make sure you set the "Copy Local" == False.

Hey Simio insiders, I'm a Simio beginner and am doing my first big Simio project. I am modelling a docking system. Trucks arrive at docks with a certain amount of pallets/trolleys. The trucks dock and after a worker inspects their shipment, the trolleys or pallets will be transporter by the worker to the next area. Since there are multiple trolleys in a truck the worker will first transport the exact amount of trolleys (more than 1) to the next area. I cant find how to increase the capacity of a single worker and how to assign a precise amount of trolleys (temporarily) to process/transport. Thank you for your help

For those of use who were past Arena users for many years, is there a way to port Arena models to SIMIO? Or are there suggestions on other strategies to use when trying to capture at least part of the logic from an Arena model?

SimioVisio.mp4 Simio is developing a common exchange mechanism for importing drawings from Visio and other apps. This Topic describes how drawings are imported from Visio (.VSDX files; Visio 2013 or later). This is a run-time release (with code to soon follow). It has a *lot* of bug fixes, plus the addition of a preview tab in the Visio2018 Add-In. The included video has been updated along with the addition of a source-code package. Contained are: 1. I am trying to make a model in simio, showing how: 329 customers purchase either Cold-Food, Hot-Food, Cold-Drinks or Hot-Drinks, as shown in the attached simio-model. However, I cannot figure out how to set the maximum quantity of our (Source or ModelEntity), to 329. And in addition, how do I figure out to spread the customers in according to different meassurements of both Hot+Cold and Hot or Cold. Hot Drinks: 3 Cold Drinks: 8 Hot Food: 163 Cold Food: 64 Cold Drinks + Hot Food: 45 Cold Food + Hot Drinks: 9 Hot Drinks + Hot Food: 22 Cold Drinks + Cold Food: 15 Na: 0 (Na) In example customers turned away. Hello Simio Insiders! Currently, our group is working on a project regarding queue-systems and how to optimize them. We´ve chosen to look at Burger King and how they operate. Here, we would like to come up with a few suggestions (through simulation) about how they can do things differently. For example, how an extra worker would affect the queue or how a decrease from 5% to 1% in machinery failure can affect their revenue. We’ve managed to set up a rather simple model with the source, the order point, three different stations depending on what the customer orders (set up with discrete distribution) and a sink. We´ve also added a worker entity as seen in our model. The reasoning behind this is that the worker enters the order point when the customer sets the order and then follows the path to either one of the three following stations depending on what the customer has ordered. However, our current problem is that the worker passes by all three nodes every time an order is placed and he ends up at the same station every time as well (3rd station). We would really appreciate any kind of feedback that we can get. We’ve watched multiple YouTube videos concerning Simio, but we haven’t really found a video that highlights these exact problems that we’re mentioning. Hi all, I'm setting up a presentation to get accross the benefits of using Simio over Excel. They are pretty stubborn, as they've been using Excel for years now for project predictions. I just wanted to know has anyone here been in a similar predicament? If so, what tools (examples, interective games, slides, etc) did you use to get your point accross? I've set up a presentation, using old project examples as well as the benefits of the analytical vs simulation approaches, just wondered if there's anything else that I'm missing. Thanks!

Hi, Lets say I wanted to create two simple Simio models, where an entity is made, processed by one server, and moved to the next model, in the following way: source1 > server1 > sink1 >> source2 > server2 > sink2 Where 1 is in model1 and 2 is in model2. I was wondering if it is possible to set things so that whenever an entity goes into sink1, a new entity is made in the second model (at the same time)? Is there a user-made add-on process step that does something close to this? If there is a simpler way than making a new process step, please let me know. Thank you
