  1. Hello, I am trying to use git to track changes when working on Simio projects collaboratively. For this I am saving the project as *.simproj and the resulting file and folder structure looks good. But there are too many time stamp changes that make it difficult to track the "important" changes. For example, I only changed the location of the DefaultEntity in the model and hit save. The resulting changes are shown in the attached screenshot, with 20 files shown as changed. The main changes are related to the time stamp. Is there a way to configure Simio such that fewer files will be affected by each change? Thank you. Annika
  2. Hi! I don't think you need to save those times stamps on MyVehicle. I would suggest you to use processes that triggers when the entity leaves the Output Buffer of the source and enters the Input Buffer of the server. To do that, create two process with the corresponding Triggering Event Name: Source1.OutputBuffer.Exited or Server1.InputBuffer.Entered, saving time stamps directly on the MyModelEntity.
  3. Hi all, I have a model with several servers, each with their own Changeover Matrix for cleaning between jobs. This is done by a Sequence Dependent Setup within the Servers Task Sequence steps. This is working fine when the Cleaning is either done 100% Automatic or 100% Manual with a Worker called as a Secondary resource. Some servers however require partial support from a Worker. For example a COMatrix of X mins needs to include 5 mins support from a Worker at the start and 10 mins support from a worker at the end of the Changeover period, with the middle X - 15 mins in the middle of the CO cleaning period (There are other more complex examples too where the operator will be required half way through the process too to empty the cleaning waste container). Is there a way of saving the COMatrix time, rather than running this delay, so that I can then build an add on process or add further task sequences to break the time into its Automated and Manual Components? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. J
  4. I have a project where I would like to see snapshots of the output state of the system at specific time points. For example I would like to see output reports at 12, 24, 36, 48 hours and so on. Ideally I would like to set up experiments where I can observe, say 100 runs at each run length and saving capacity on my PC might be nice. I was thinking I could set up a reference property for Run Length; however, it does not seem to have that option. Is there a way to do something like this? Thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks, Jim
  5. Hello and thanks for reading, I'm building a model that should replicate how vessels are handled within a port area. Within this area, there are multiple Terminals (servers) and ships (entities) that have to visit any number of terminals. Their processing times at each server vary. With their sequences predefined, I have managed to model this accurately, based on a first come first serve or another dispatching rule. I'd like to implement a dynamic sequence. 1) How can I model a certain degree of freedom in their sequences - e.g. a vessel is free to choose between sequence XABZ or XBAZ, depending on the queue size at A or B at the time of leaving X? However, in reality, these vessels enter the system, draft a sequence that is suitable for their loading plan, and then try to reserve serving times at the various terminals. I have tried wrapping my head around ways to model this, but can't seem to think of a way how. I could create a large amount of state variables for each server, that denotes whether or not a certain slot has been reserved, but that is not suitable for running long simulations. I read on this forum post that I could perhaps use a storage element, and store the reservations in there. How would I go about saving reservation-related information? Should I store that on the barge entity or in the terminal's reservation storage? How should I go about modelling timeslots in itself? 2) How can I model 'future' reservations of entities at the various servers? Finally, if this functions properly, and entities can request reservations at the various servers, I would like to have the servers compare all the requests at a certain cutoff time, and for all the doubly requested slots have it allocate the reservation based on the entities' characteristics. 3) Would I have to store the reservation data on both the entity and the server side for them to both make calculations with them, or is it enough to have them all on the server side, and denote whether they have been accepted with e.g. a boolean property? My apologies for the long post. Do not hesitate to ask for more information. Kind regards, Tom
  6. Hello, I have a question regarding the compatibility between the Simio Enterprise and Team editions. Specifically, in my company we are developing using the Simio Enterprise Edition, and we would like to know the impact of sharing our models with a Client that has only the Team Edition. How does this work? Could they still open, edit and save the model we provide? What happens to Enterprise-specific functionalities in this situation? Just to be clear, I know already that these versions are compatible in the sense that, when using the Team Edition, one can open and run models that were created using the Enterprise Edition. My question relates specifically to editing/updating the simulation models, and saving them of course. Thanks in advance, and best regards, Ruben
  7. Regarding #3, it is correct that by default when a Server goes from off-shift to on-shift that all entities which have already been allocated Server capacity will simply continue processing (even if the scheduled capacity is less than the entities already using the Server. The server's scheduled utilization will be greater than 100 during the time period when it is working over scheduled capacity). Similarly, suppose you have a Server with scheduled capacity of 5 that has 5 entities currently processing on the Server, and the scheduled capacity is decreased from 5 to 4, that capacity decrease does not by default suspend the processing of one of the entities on the server. All 5 entities continue processing and the server's scheduled utilization will be greater than 100 during the time period until at least one of the entities finishes and releases the server. If it is important for you in a model to never have a server being utilized above scheduled capacity while on-shift, then you might add some Interrupt step-related process logic to your model that essentially kicks entities off the server whenever capacity is decreased. The interruption logic will make the entities release the server capacity, store the remaining processing time, and transfer the entities from the processing station back into the input buffer to have to re-seize. You would have control over selection of which entities are desired to get kicked off and of course if having to re-seize the Server then the server's allocation ranking and selection rules would be applicable. The SimBit 'InterruptingServerWithMultipleCapacity.spfx' might be looked at to see an example of interrupting entities on a server, saving the remaining processing time, and then transferring the entities back into the Input Buffer of the Server to have to re-seize capacity in order to continue processing.
  8. Its a saving grace that doesn't save disk space when I have models having 500mb of simulation data.
  9. I have been running very large experiments that take a few days to run. Murphy's law seems to interfere through either power outages or automatic updates which can cost me a couple of days of computer time. So I found some code using autohotkey and modified it to work great with SIMIO. autohotkey is a free download and easy to use. The below code runs a loop which hits {control S} on the SIMIO window if it is open every 10 minutes. Persistent ;run a loop 100 times saving every ten minutes if your SIMIO file is open. loop, 100 { ;save file every 10 minutes MsgBox, Iteration number is %A_Index%. setTimer, AutoSave, 6000000,on AutoSave: IfWinActive, ;name_of_simio_file_without_spfx_extension Send {Blind}^s return } return
  10. If you have a model that will generate results, you can certainly just put it up there and have various people work on it. However, you would need some sort of exclusive lock mechanism, like an email telling the rest of the group that you are currently working on the model - because we do not provide merge capability between model revisions. I'm not sure if Sharepoint has this sort of notification system though. If you want to collaborate on a library of objects, then I would recommend some source control system (like svn). If you decide to use source control, I would suggest saving in the .simproj format, since this will give you the raw xml file and the data files which make it deasy to revision and see changes made in source control. Thanks
