  1. Hi Amine, I have defined a new process named process1 which is triggered by Input@BUFFER_ST_1.Entered event. Then, I used interrupt step (in process 1) to get one entity from processing station whenever process 1 is triggered. Note that I set the processing time of BUFFER_ST_2 server to infinity to hold entitys until Input@BUFFER_ST_1.Entered event is occured. I am not sure if setting this to infinity is a problem?. Other than this everything is ok and it seems it works. Buffer varianti trazioni V2.spfx
  2. How can I set a safety distance between with other entity . e.g. Transfer Node 79 entity is will impact with others, how can I set a safety distance on every entity?
  3. Thank you We follow your method by importing the about 1000 data from excel using Key and Foreign Key. But the simulation is wrong that the all aircraft depart their gate once in different time but not individually according to date and time that we import. Maybe it is a large file to you that over 200 item for u to run, but can you help me find what's wrong with it? 20230315 FullGate version 4.spfx
  4. This is problematic in Simio because Simio considers only entity length (not width) and only when on a Path or Conveyor. I think the first thing to do is fix the nose to tail problem. If you happen to use Conveyors to model this, there are built-in features to manage spacing while stopped and different spacing while moving. But unfortunately Conveyors are limited to a single direction, so are perhaps not appropriate if this is a bi-directional taxiway. If you are using Paths, you can fix this by making each plane longer when you draw it. For example, if you are drawing a plane that is 50M long and you want it to stay at least 10M behind the plane in front of it, place a nearly invisible dot about 10M in front of the plane's nose, making the total plane length (including safety spacing) be 60M. Although Simio will still put the entities nose to tail, there will be a 10M safety spacing between the physical planes. The problem of conflict at merge points is a bit more tedious to fix. I'd recommend a resource-based approach, like illustrated in the SimBit in Merging Conveyors Controlled by Gate. You can use this approach even when using Paths.
  5. I have an application where a single entity gets worked on by two different operators at the same time with different completion times. This occurs on 10+ workstations in the flow line in the application. What is the best mechanism to model this in Simio? Ideally, I would like to be able to adjust the processing time of each operator to engage in line balancing, and the ability to create standard WIP processes. Thanks, Aytac
  6. Hello, I'm trying to model a paint flow line where I have two servers in one line(series and not parallel). If one entity gets painted in server 1, then I want that entity to just pass server two without getting processed. If the entity does not gets painted in server one than it can get processed in Server 2. I'm not sure how I should put this logic in Simio. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
  7. Im creating a model that has different entities and it has to go two different servers. The problem have is that each entity has different process time at each server. Can someone please help me? I try setting up table and it did not work. Thanks.
  8. Hello all! So I'm getting ready to run my experiment - and I'm running into an issue where the control tab when I run a single case has the items displayed in hours, but in my experiment tab it says I should be entering the time in minutes. I would like my experiment tab to say (Hours) as that is how I want to input my data. Thank you for any help you can provide! Grant
  9. Hello every body, I try to model a 3 servers process and I'm getting some trouble. The model is composed of 3 servers and 3 operators . Each operator is a "specialist" for a server, Worker 1, 2, 3 for the server 1, 2, 3 respectively. However the workers 2 and 3 can help the worker 1 at the server 1 if they are not busy. The processing time of server 1 will adjust proportionally to the number of workers working at the server. (There is a 4th worker whose task is to move parts to the server 3 or the sink. But I don't think it plays any role in the problem.) I've implemented some processes so that workers work at the right server. It was working perfectly. But then, as I modified the model to add the variable processing time, the Interrupt steps in the processes don't work anymore. Indeed, the worker 2 or 3 stay at the server 2 or 3 and don't go to help the worker 1 when servers 2 or 3 are blocked, or idle. As well, if workers 2 or 3 are busy at server 1 they are not interrupted when a part arrive to the server 2 or 3. I hope I'm clear enough. I've enclosed the model so that you can better picture the problem. Thank you for your attention and thank you in advance for any help I may get! three_workers_Interrupt.spfx
  10. Lloyd, attached you can find one of many possible ways to do it. Hope it helps. Rds. Specific Picking and Droping Time.spfx
  11. @ViniciusF thank you How can i set the entity between entity with fixed distance in conveyor?
  12. So lets say task B is dependent on Task A, hence Task A has sequence value 10 and Task B has sequence value 20 (Task A preceeds TaskB). Task A branch type should be conditional and for the condition formula should be written in to the "condition or probability" fieldç For Task B enter the processing time and other data as usual. If the auto-cancel trigger is set to "All immediate predecessors cancelled" (as it is by default), Task B will be cancelled if the condition for Task A didnt return true value. Hope this helps
  13. I am trying to make a routing decision based on the Candidate node's routerequestqueue's summation of the entities user-defined property. If there are different types of entities with ex. different priority levels. I would like the routing process to choose the transfernode which has the smallest total sum of it's entities priority level. the transfernode that needs to be chosen also has a routing group attached to its entity destination type rule where its final machine has 0 buffer and due to a blocked destination rule, there will be a queue build up at the transfernode that needs to be chosen. I have thought about using a state variable for each node and using add-on process each time a unit enters and leaves a node but because the main model has many multiple nodes the node's entity priority sum has to be able to be accessed through the candidate.transfernode._________________. For example during the routing step in the process section, I have candidate.transfernode.destinationroutinggroupname.routerequestqueue which gives me the node's number of units waiting, but i need to be able to access the candidate nodes summed queued property. Is there either a way to directly access this information, have looked at the expressions and having a hard time finding something. failed attempt: candidate.transfernode.destinationroutinggroupname.routerequestqueue.population.defaultentity.priority.summation or is there a way to use the add-on process where i am adding/subtracting the priority levels, but somehow attach it to the candidate.transfernode's property Hopefully this makes sense. If you look at the file, please ignore the upper half and focus on the transfer nodes maintransfer, transfernode1 and transfernode1_1. maintransfer has an entered add-onprocess which is the subject of this question. the route process and it's selection expression is what I'm trying to adjust but find a way to express the candidate transfernodes of transfernode1 and transfernode1_1 (which are part of the XferRouting group). I'd like to choose and compare the total summed priority level of each node's queue. Simple_Routing.spfx
  14. I'm currently working on a model that has four entities that are going through two different servers and in each server this entities have different process time. I try to set up a table but I was not successful at it. I currently have the 2018 SIMIO version. Attached is my model. can some please help me to figure this out. 5X7 CELL STUDENT PROJECT.spfx
  15. I am trying a simple assembly process where 2 entities are to be assembled to create a 3rd Entity. Hence I need to destroy 2 entities arriving at the server and create 3rd pre-defined entity. Can someone please help with how this can be achieved?
  16. I have a model where there are 4 servers with Processing Count Based failures. So every 5 cycles, the specific machine has a lockout and needs to be serviced by a worker. I am trying to have status label that shows how many cycles are left before the machine goes into lockout. I am having trouble figuring out the logic for it.
  17. @River Maybe you can use a Timer element and set its Interval type to Arrival Table and use Timer's event to trigger a Process, within this process, you can do anything you want use process steps.
  18. Hi, I am trying to make it so that at the end of a process all of my combiners (say 10 or 20) collect all entities (assigned to a particular combiner when they enter the system) but wait to release to the sink until the simulation reaches a certain time (say 9:00 AM) AND all entities have been processed through the system and are in their assigned combiner. I use a combiner because they turn into a different type of entity before exiting the system. I've tried a few different things but cannot seem to get the process logic down. Any help?
  19. To make an entity wait until the runway is free what you could do is set the Initial Traveler Capacity of the Runway path to 1. This way entities will wait at the node before entering the path. I did not understand the first question, but if you need entities to visually appear behind one another, set Allow Passing to False on the path. Alternatively, you could use conveyor instead of path to make entities allign and respect some distance. Hope it helps.
  20. I am building a model where I need to use relational data tables to create objects and elements due to the large size of the model. I found helpful resources to guide me when it comes to auto-creating objects and elements (Simio Help Guide, SimBits, and Examples). But for some reasons I couldn't find resources that address directly the topic of process logic design in data-driven models. There is one particular example that's very relevant to my case. This example is MultiEchelonSupplyChain that comes with Simio (in Simio: Support > Examples > MultiEchelonSupplyChain). This example is solved using two approaches. The second one (the data-driven approach) is the one I'm interested in. In the accompanying PDF file that explains the technical details of the example, it does not explain the differences in process logic design. For example, how do I define triggering events? Some of the processes in this example have no triggering events. If you know of a resource that explains designing processes for data-driven models, please share. Thanks.
  21. Hi all, I was wondering, is it possible to record the time in system of entity instances and subsequently plot the values in a histogram? Of course, I can see the average, min and max values in the results tab, but I am interested in knowing what the distribution is like for model validation purposes. If it is not possible to plot the values in Simio, is it perhaps still possible to access and export the values, i.e. to a .csv document? Hopefully my question is clear. Best regards, Michkel Mariegaard
  22. Dear all, I am currently simulating a 3D printing facility in the frame of my Bachelorthesis and I have a specific problem which I cannot solve by myself. I have four Entity types with different lead times which are specified in a datatable as shown in one of the SimBit solutions. However, I need to batch the entities before they arrive in the workstation to simulate that several parts are processed within one 3D printing build job. The problem is that the workstation only calculates the leadtime of the parent entity and not of each individual member. Instead of calculating: 5hr + 4hr + 3hr + 2hr= 14hr for a batch of four entities, the machine only calculates 5hrs. Is there any solution with a search step to explain the workstation that it should define the batch members and then to add the lead time for each of them according to my datatable and to use the sum as processing time? I am really thankful for any help you can provide, so thank you very much in advance! Greetings from Hamburg, Armin R.
  23. Hi John, The entity is requesting a ride from the vehicle and the vehicle will seize the driver if available. However, if the vehicle is unable to seize the driver, it will reject the ride request and the entity will move to the Global Visit Request Queue, as you are seeing. You can attempt to have the Vehicle check again if it can now pick up the entity, and it will run the process to check if a driver is available. To have the Vehicle check the Global Request Queue to see if it can give a ride, use a PlanVisit step. Ensure that the Vehicle, in this case Vehicle_A, is the object executing this step. By default, the Vehicles are not aware if the Driver they need becomes available. You might consider using a Subscribe step on the Vehicle's OnInitialized process. This Subscribe step can watch for an Event and if that Event occurs, can trigger a related process. For example, the Vehicle might wait for the Driver.Released Event. When this Event occurs Process1 could run. In Process1, the Vehicle could execute the PlanVisit step. For more information, I recommend the Help pages in the Simio Reference Guide titled "PlanVisit" and "Subscribe". Happy Modeling!
  24. Hello everyone, I am a master's student in operations management trying my hand at Simio for the first time. I want to develop a model that simulates the delays incurred by variable supply lead times which may lead to stock-outs at a manufacturing plant. I would like to model demand so that each entity generated by a single source module corresponds to a sales order. Each order should have a probability to include orders for several specific product types (since sales orders may contain orders for different product types). As such, entities should have an arrival rate which corresponds to the arrival rate of orders at the company, and the product mix of each order should reference the probability of a given product type being included in that order (i.e. product A has 25% probability to be included, product B has 50%, etc.). Is it possible to do this? I would also like for each product type to be associated with a specific BOM. I.e., a server module should reference each entity instance to consume material as defined by the BOM’s of the products stated by the entity instance. I have defined each component as material elements and defined a BOM for each finished product that references the materials needed. However, in the server module I am only able to input a specific type of finished product as material requirements... Your help is greatly appreciated!
  25. Let's say I want exactly 100 entities arrive where the arrival of each one follows a normal distribution with mean 1 hour and standard deviation of 5 minutes from the start of the simulation. How can I model that within SIMIO? The interarrival time doesn't make sense because I don't know / care what the interrarrival time between each entity is. I realize that I could randomly generate 100 normal random variables outside of SIMIO and input them all as an appointment, but I am wondering if there is a better way especially if I want to do many replications with a different set of 100 random variables each time.
