  1. Hi all! I am simulating a facility with nearly 40 servers, each one starting with some entities in the input node at initialization and having a different capacity. Each server has a 0 input buffer capacity. My entity creation is currently set to having an interarrival time to be 4.33 weeks (1 month) with a random number of entities created. Currently, it runs 24/7 and does not care about the time, but I want to incorporate that. How can I make it so that the entities arrive once a month, let's say the first Monday, at 8am? How can I make it so the servers are only processing between 8am and 4pm Monday - Friday? The work schedule doesn't seem to work for me, but I could be doing it wrong, since I have a 0 input buffer, which I can't change as it's part of my routing logic for overflow. I would be happy with using timers or a process logic if someone can explain it to me. Ideally, the entities only arrive when it's during the working time, and the entities remaining after 4pm are just put on hold until 8am the next day. Thanks in advance!
  2. You want to make the servers have a Capacity Type of Schedule and follow the default Standard Week. If you don't want to give them a lunch break, just change the definition of the Standard Day. Leave the default Off Shift Rule of Suspend Processing. The easiest approach for arrivals is to have a Source with an Interarrival time of 4.33 weeks (or 4 weeks) and an integer random distribution for the Entities Per Arrival. Doing a "first Monday" is possible, but a bit complicated because Simio time does not have the concept of Month because months are of varying size. You could probably specify the initial Time Offset to be early in a month, then maybe make the interarrival time be something like DateTime.DaysInMonth(DateTime.Month(Timenow),DateTime.Year(TimeNow)) which would make the next arrival be exactly one month later (same day of the month). When you say you have no buffers, what do you mean? If an entity arrives when all servers are busy, should it be balked (possibly disposed) or should it wait somewhere like on the server input node, on a path or in the Source output node? If the above arrival approach isn't exact enough, you can put exact arrivals in a data table. The arrival time could be specified at any exact datetime you desire and still have the Entities Per Arrival be a distribution.
  3. Many Thx for your help. We have another problem : As we want to be more realistic, we have the data from Hong Kong. How can we input those data (such as departure Gate time) into the simio to let the enttity will departure as schedual ? We already have atleast one month data, can you show us how to make the entity dearture as the time we set accordingly?

  8. Hello all I have few silly questions to ask. 1) I am creating a model (attached),where several vehicles are involved in 8 hours shift everyday. They work on 100m each day, once I have simulated that for 1st patch of 100m, How can I make iterate for rest of the month. They should continue the work where left the day before. So moving forward by 100m everyday. 2) Is there any Sim-bit or sample model where one vehicle uses another vehicle. e.g. how to simulate an Excavator digging up road and filling Dump trucks at the same time. And when one truck is filled and left the area, how can this vehicle request for a new vehicle i.e. dump truck. 3) How to track the Distance covered by each specific vehicle at the end of day ? (in results tab ?) Road works.spfx Thanks a lot in advance
  9. In fact, even if I use just two simple nodes without any steps and other objects, it is not possible to create a street route on map, while it was possible until about a month ago. The features of my software are as follows: Version: 12.205.20430 (64bit) License Type: Academic RPS Expiration: 2021 - 06- 30 Best regards, Milad
  10. Hello, I have a model, that's producing parts (Multiple Parts A,B, C,D) with a server, sever works based on a work schedule and off shift days and holidays and the simulation is run for 1 year. Note: processing time for each part is different i need to extract the number of parts produced each month. Also need to determine the monthly efficiency of server , since some months may have holidays. Please provide a solution to get the dat on a monthly basis.

  12. I'm very new to Simio. I'm trying to figure out the impact on maintenance schedule/work load. I have excel file with 300 pieces of equipment and forecasted operating hours for the next 5 years by month. The operating hours varies from month to month. As the item gains time, there are different maintenance action that takes place, up to 5 different maintenance actions. The next problem is over the 5 years the number of equipment will double. How do I read the excel file? Each row is piece of equipment, the columns are projected hours of operation for that month. How do I store operating time for each piece of equipment? Thanks

  14. Examine the attached file. In the model the customers are created according to the proportions of each customer group (i.e., the proportion of hotdrink customers will be 3/329 as you defined). You should note that max arrival property (under stopping condition section of source object) is set to 329. At the end of the simulation run the total number of hotdrink customers can be more or less than 3 due to the randomness. You had better run this simulation for more customers to get those proportions you mentioned. If I were you I run this model for 1 week or month etc. Each customer group follows their sequence accodingly. Sequences are defined in sequences table as well. Do not hesitate for more questions. customerspreadsimio.spfx
  15. Hello, I have built a model that requires the use of seasonality data to increase or decrease demand patterns in customer orders. To do this, I have created a data table with one column for months of the year (as a calendar date/time) and another with percentage increase (or decrease) demand. I was attempting to use the TimeNow variable to match the simulation time to the calendar time in the columns (using the 'search' function in an add-on process trigger, a la Search Tables SimBit). Unfortunately, for this to work (conceptually) I would have to fire the process every time step (which is inefficient). And even doing the process this way doesnt seem to be matching TimeNow to a calendar date in my table. Is there a way to extract a calendar attribute (in this case, a month) from the TimeNow variable? Thanks Albert Munoz
  16. This is a very cool library, i have built two very simple examples to test before using it in a simulation in which they will represent Ship to Shore Cranes. First of all, it took me a moment to figure out that "entity destination" on my home node for the crane has to be set to "specific", can this work using "continue" ? Now, on attached example 1, the Crane picks the entity and will wait for an available vehicle to make the transfer, building a queue in the home node for the crane if there is no available vehicle. This is great since it reflects what happens in the actual operations, the crane waits for a truck to be below the crane to drop the container. crane_example1.spfx But there may be interest in simulating the crane dropping the entity into the floor and just keep unloading the ship, this means i now want to drop the entity without the vehicle being available. Is it possible to control this behaviour at will? I was looking for the option of an input buffer of some sort but for now I just add a normal node and allow the crane to drop it there it will build a queue waiting for the vehicle, this can be seen on example 2, I appreciate any ideas, crane_example2.spfx also, I tried scaling the elements and it gave me an error on height, so I was wondering what should i take into account when scaling (changing size) of this elements? I will take a screenshot next time I encounter the error. finally, I will be using this element in my simulation, and i was wondering what are the thoughts on "tulach" question: "5.) Crane and other crane components do generate a lot of data in trace. It would be nice to have possibility to swich this off just for some steps inside crane and co. I used it in a model that has a simulation time of 1 month and this made my trace impossible to filter and analyse." thanks best regards
  17. Hi, I tried this library and it is a nice thing to work with. Few suggestions: 1.) It took me some time to get the difference between ForwardandBack and LeftandRight. 2.) Crane can, to my great suprise, transfer entities to nodes out of Bay. This happens only if the node is outside bay in the direction of cab movement. If it is outside bay in the direction of Bridge movement, warning appears. 3.)If Crane initialnode must be the same as bridge initialnode, it should be nice to have this set by default. This is not possible in Simio at the moment I think. 4.) It would be nice to have transparent Bay with borders only (Or a choice to . Sometimes we have layout of factory and bay does not look good and hides important things on layout. Ok I found that I can change bay as any other object but still transparent color for objects would be nice. 5.) Crane and other crane components do generate a lot of data in trace. It would be nice to have possibility to swich this off just for some steps inside crane and co. I used it in a model that has a simulation time of 1 month and this made my trace impossible to filter and analyse. 6.) If I have Bridge1 initialNode and CraneInitialNode the same as node where my entities go to be transfered, I get this error. I has something to do with fact, that bridge does not have to move, so it has movement.rate == 0 7.) In one model the lift started to fall into depth. This happens if entity has destination node set to specific and to the same node where it is. (e.g. if TransferNode1 is set to Entitity destination type specific, NodeName = TransferNode1) then crane will fall in the depths.
  18. If you happened to uninstall Simio without returning your roamed license, you need to in reinstall the same version in order to return the roamed license. If you just uninstalled Simio 4.79 or higher, you have another option. In the attached zip file (ReturnRoam.zip), there are 2 executables. Unzip these executable into the C:\ProgramData\Simio folder. Then, run the "ReturnROAM.exe". When prompted, select the license (simio-d = Design, simio-e = Team, simio=n = Enterprise) and the year.month that the sprint was released (e.g. Sprint 87 was released in 2013.04). Then press "Return ROAM". The executable will return the roam license. If successful, the following dialog will be displayed. If it is successful with returning the roam license, it will remove the roamed license parameters from the Simio.Settings file. ReturnROAM.zip
  19. Update: As of Sprint 65, the software now contains DateTime functions that return a number representing a minute, hour, day, month or year based on a datetime input (such as TimeNow). There are also additional functions that convert a datetime to/from a string and those that let you determine which day of the week, month or year corresponds to a given datetime. See Help for more information on these new functions. Examples of these functions are: DateTime.Month(datetime) - which will return the month component, expressed as an integer between 1 and 12, for the specified datetime value (if you want the month of the current simulation time, put TimeNow in the parenthesis). DateTime.DaysInMonth(month, year) - which will return the number of days in the specified month and year. Specify the month as a number ranging from 1 to 12 and the year as a number ranging from 1 to 9999. DateTime.ToString(datetime) - which will return a formatted datetime string for the specified numeric datetime value. For example, 02/08/2012 00:00:21.
  20. Did you ever wish you had been involved when a product was being designed? Have you ever said the words "If only they had asked me..."? This is your chance. Simio is a different kind of company in many ways. 1) One is that we welcome your ideas. And not just ideas concerning something we are about to ship, but ideas for new features, opinions on our early designs and concepts, and opinions on the ideas of others. This forum is one of the ways we hope to encourage your involvement. 2) A second way we are different is that we are agile. In short that means that every idea will get logged and prioritized. The highest priority ideas may be seen in new software in as little as a month. In my mind the most important reason to join is the opportunity to help change the simulation industry. Yes, that's "big talk", but WE ARE ALREADY DOING IT! The whole industry is advancing while trying to keep up with our frequent innovations. We have a lot of ideas in the pipeline, but we are missing yours... please join and help design the next generation of simulation products. But if you are looking for more reasons to join and participate, how about: - Access to early designs and concepts - Access to pre-release product downloads - Networking with the Simio user community (share your problems and help others solve theirs) - An opportunity to help set development priorities - Access to exclusive content - Access to Simio team members - Our sincere gratitude. If this sounds interesting, please join now. Read the topic How to Become a Simio Insider to find out how.
