  1. Hi all, I am modeling a restaurant, where orders are placed until 22:00. The preparation of these orders takes approximately 20 minutes (it can be more or less due to the probability distributions involved). I have some workers whose schedules are from 10:00 to 22:30 and they prepare these orders. The problem is the following. Suppose that it's 22:30 and there are still some orders in the queue. Since the worker's schedule ends now, those orders can't be processed and will remain for the next day. This obviously does not happen in a real-life restaurant. So if at the end of the worker schedule (22:30) there are some orders in queue, I would like to extend the schedule until all orders are met. How can this be done? Hi Guys, I have a source producing the entities, which is processed by the server with a worker. server and worker are assigned to work schedule (7Hrs) (12am-7am) arrival model of the server is set to time varying arrival rate. to control the source on holidays. But with current scenario the source is producing the entities on off-shift time. Please help out with a logic, so that source is produces the entities matching to the timings of work schedule. Note: Simulation run is for a period of 1 year. Regards, Alen
  3. Hi all, I met some questions in building the model. It seems a very general quesiton but I didn't find any solution from internet... I'm building a general workflow model. I want to decide the quantity of a server to optimize the workflow. I want to use experiments or optquest to get the 'best' number for each server. If I set the capacity type as Fixed, then I can set the initial capacity as ''referenced property'', then I can use this as control in experiments/optquest. However, I have a work schedule for each server now which means I couldn't set the capacity type as Fixed. And then I couldn't set capacity as ''referenced property''. I don't know how to control this capacity in my experiments/optquest. I know I can change the 'value'(which means the capacity) in workschedule table. But I can not change this number flexible in experiments... Or I don't know how to set this value as ''referenced property'' . Is there anyone who could help me with this? Thanks a lot!
  4. Hi everyone, I am working on a project that has more than 2,000 different arrival distributions. The distributions are all exponential, but they all change over time. To illustrate: suppose I am modeling 30 companies around the world, each company with a group of suppliers (or clients), each supplier (or client) with a group of parts (or orders) that will be arriving in my company to be processed. Each one of these parts coming from each supplier to each company (I will call it a combination) has its own distribution that changes over time. [this is an analogy to my problem] If I had only 1 company with a few suppliers and a few parts, the natural solution would be to use Rate Tables. This would be good because I want to investigate the impact of different Rate Scale Factors (increase or decrease of arrivals) on my key performance indicators. However, as I mentioned, I have more than 2,000 different distributions. So, my main question is: does anyone have a suggestion about how to create these arrivals in an efficient manner? I am assuming creating one source and one table for each possible combination would not be efficient, as it may make the model super heavy. I have thought about two different solutions (which I am not sure if it is good and, even worse, I do not know how to implement yet). So, recommendations to any materials, SimBits or tutorials that might provide more information about my ideas are really appreciated. #1) One idea was using an object inside an object in Simio. This may reduce at least a few combinations?! However, I do not know how to model objects inside objects in Simio. #2) Letting Simio auto-create all my servers and auto-fill the information using tables. This means that I would create one source for each combination. Although this may not be computationally efficient, at least I would not have to drag and drop each one of them. But again, I am new to this auto-create object tool and I do not know how to implement it. So, I really appreciate: - any ideas on how to solve my problem in an efficient way - materials that may teach me how to solve my problem using my idea #1 or #2. Another issue is that RateTables (as far as I know) cannot be imported and binded. So, how can I input all my 2,000 columns of arrival rate data in Simio? Otherwise, my solution #2 is really bad. I have also discussed the idea of grouping the arrivals together and using TableRowReferencing and discrete distributions ("mix") to reduce the number of possible combinations. However, the team I am working with does not think this is a good idea, since each distribution change over time in a different way. So, combining them may not be very accurate. Thanks!

  6. In my model, I intend to use a Binary Gate on a path to control if a particular entity is allowed to enter that path, using an Add-on process on the Path Run_initilized. First, I close the gate. At the Decide step, if a particular condition is fulfiled, then the entity will be allowed to pass through that path and proceed onto the next steps. The Gate will then close. If the condition is not fulfilled, then the Binary Gate at the path will remain closed. However, when I run my model, even when the condition is not fulfilled, the entities still pass through that path. May I ask if my understanding and usage of the Binary Gate is wrong?   7. Hello, I am trying to model a situation when a truck which comes for unloading and requires a worker or combination for worker to do the task. Basically I want to know how can I engage secondary resource (Worker or forklift) for loading, unloading or even for transit ( transit I require for cranes ). I am a novice in Simio and will be thankful for any kind of help.
  8. Hello - At the moment, my university group and I, are having troubles on simulating a basic telephone queue in SIMIO 10. We're in doubt on how to adjust each object, so that they can run on specific data we have received from a given source. And more likely on how to set this up? In the uploaded picture below, our basic model is shown. So please, if you have any advice on how to adjust this specific model to run as a basic telephone queue write a comment.   9. Hello, a similar question from 2015 was not answered http://www.simio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1936&p=6252&hilit=selection+condition#p6252. I have the same problem. I want to use a rather complex selection condition, but they don't work. For example: ((Server1.AttributeA == 1) == (Server2.AttributeB == 2)) or Math.If((Candidate.Node.AssociatedObject.Is.TypeA),something) I checked my conditions extensively and they should work, but they dont. It seems only "simple" selection onditions work. Does anyone know something about that?
  10. I am trying to run an experiment for 7 days (with 2 day warm-up) and I was hoping to find out what impact Work Schedules have on this. So I have 8 hour shifts scheduled with various resources scheduled to go off shift at times specified in the work schedule. When running an experiment for 7 days, does SIMIO run during the off-shift period as well because my experiments seem to be extremely slow i.e. if my day shift is 9 am - 5 pm, does the experiment carry on working from 5 pm even though there is no activity at night and start again at 9 am on the Tuesday and so on till the end of the seven days? I now this may be a trivial question and would appreciate any help with this.
  11. Dear Forum, I am trying to build reality into my model. I have 3 shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd). 1st Shift works form 7AM-3PM, 2nd Shift works from 3PM to 11PM, then 3rd shift works from 11PM to 7AM of the following day. So, I tried to put in Day Patterns in my schedules and on my 3rd shift, it resulted in an error "Duration must not result in a Work Period that spans multiple days." Is there a way to model these 3 shifts as they actually exist in the factory or do I need to change the time frames to "dummy" time frames so that do not span over a 24 hour period?
