  1. Thanks you so much for you help Liz. That's such an advanced modeling techinique I had never heard of before. I would never be able to figure it out myself. It has almost worked but correctly. It has recorded the results for some tallies correctly but recorded some tallies on the wrong tally. I think there is a problem with the set row feature somewhere. I have no problem with setting rows elsewhere in the model such as arrivals from production and arrivals from truck tables create entities correctly with all their state variables. The product list table also has unique "productnames" (entity instances), set as key and auto set-row property is set to true. I have added another coloumn with element tally statistics reference (DistanceOnForklift) to products table. I have auto created it as you suggested and turned on the auto-set row feature to true. Both my product names and tally statistics coloumn are set as key in same "products" table. But the tally step still doesnt record them to the correct tally statistics. Where am I doing wrong? Would you still be able to help me? Shall I send you the model in private message? Here is the formula I have inputted 'Products[Products.ProductName.RowForKey(ModelEntity.EntityType.Name)].DistanceOnForklift' and in the picture below you can see that tally step records into wrong tally element on last three entries. I would be glad if you could help me.
  2. I would recommend using a Data Table. One column could have all your entity types defined. The next column could be a Tally Statistic Element Reference Property. This column would match up the Tally statistic you want to correspond with the Entity Type. You could choose to auto-create these Tally Statistics from the Data Table. If you change the Tally Statistic Property's column Reference Type property from 'Reference' to 'Create', this will make the Tally Statistics for you. I recommend the Help page "Table-Based Elements (Auto-Create)" in Simio for more information. If your Entity Instances noted in the Data Table are unique, no duplicates, you can set that column as a Key. With that column as a Key, you could use just the Tally step and use the RowForKey expression. RowForKey will allow a key input to search for in that column. If the model entity is driving the process, you could use an expression like this for the Tally Statistic Name 'Table1[Table1.EntityInstanceProperty1.RowForKey(ModelEntityReference)].TallyStatisticProperty'. Since it seems this process will be on the OnRunEnding, it will not have a reference to a specific entity, so you will most likely need a Search step to find the entities still in the system. I would set the Search step to find Infinite things and let each entity reference exit on the found branch. If the EntityInstanceProperty column in your Data Table has the Auto-set Table Row Reference property to 'True', the entities will already know the row reference and your Tally step Tally Statistic Name property could be 'Table1.TallyStatisticProperty'.
  3. Hi all, I'm trying to do an information network model, and I need to have hundreds of thousands of "nodes" in this model, each node would need a source, server, and maybe a sink. And the "nodes" need to be connected to each other as well. Is it possible do create such "node" automatically instead of manually creating them? And would the runtime efficiency be okay? or should I switch to other simulation software/language? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
  4. I believe you can't create of vector of elements. Although, you can create a element reference state vector, which might be helpful. Your best bet would probably be modelling your process logic to trigger events through the Fire step, instead of using a timer. Or maybe adding a timer inside a object model, so every instance of that object has its own timer.
  5. Now I remember no so long ago it was added the periodic statistic element. You can use that. Here you have an example. Rds. Periodic Statistics.spfx
  6. Hi John, you can set up a timer. This timer fires a process every 365 days. In the process you can register the destroyed entities. Hopr this helps Rds. Mauricio

  8. I have two transporters that have failure rates and associated downtimes. I am trying to create an output so that I can track the transport downtime (say Truck1[1] failed from Hour X to Hour Y) so that I can analyze the impacts of vehicle downtimes on the system. I don't know the best way to go about doing this: Add-on Process for Failure and for Repair but then Assigning what value to what State/Property/Table? This is where I am getting lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Let me see if I understood correctly. You want something like this? Create a Timer Element and set its Time Offset to a referenced property: Then create a process that ends the run (through the EndRun step) when the timer triggers:
  10. I am recreating the model 5.3 of the Simio and Simulation textbook. When I create the list and run the model, with selection expression in the output@placement node as below candidate.Node.AssociatedStationOverLoad, all entities goes only to finepinchfaststation. However, when I use Candidate.Node.AssociatedStationLoad it selects all desitnation loads. Is there any change to the Candidate.Node.AssociatedStationOverLoad? I displayed the values in the facility window and it is coming as -infinity. Model_05_02.spfx
  11. Has anyone had an issue of tokens mysteriously building up and not exiting the system? By using a search step in combinations with create steps what I think is happening is a build up of tokens somewhere without it exiting the system. Would appreciate any help in debugging. There should theoretically be only enough tokens to match the number of entities currently in the system but it seems when the search/create action is occurring it doesn't get rid of tokens. Attached is a file if you run should show the problem occurring around 2.5 hrs. simiohelpexceedinglimit.spfx
  12. Hi LizMB, I have a few specific recommendations for you below, but generally I suggest looking into the SimBit models provided on Simio's Support Ribbon. A PDF opens with each model that contains a detailed description, so they are a great tool for learning specific approaches and techniques. A few that I believe are related to your particular problem are "Moveable Operator", "Interruptible Operator","Keeping Worker Reserved", and "Entity Follows Sequence". Worker1 carries both entities to their respective nodes and leaves them in their respective stations after worker(A/B) "checks them" (I used a delay to simulate this check) and then Worker1 moves on. For this objective, I suggest setting up your drop off stations A and B as a Servers. Use the Processing Time property to represent the "check" while seizing both workers needed (see the Operator related SimBit for more information). Make sure all entities are assigned a sequence, so Worker 1 knows where to drop them off. The worker(A/B) only picks up the entity if needed. So if the worker was with another entity in process (like Srv(A/B)), he would go check the new entity so that worker1 can move on, but would return to finish out the first entity to the end. Assign entities that enter the pick up stations a higher priority, and interrupt the Workers at SrvA and Srvb if a pick up task arrives (See Interruptible Operator for more information). Ensure that the Workers have the needed paths to travel to all of the destinations required in all directions. Currently, WorkerA and WorkerB cannot travel to the Outputs of the Servers. Other suggestions: Look into using a Timer Element that could trigger the entity creations at SrcA and SrcB. That should remove the need for Source1 and Sink1. If the Worker's travel doesn't need to be defined by a path, I suggest setting the Initial Travel Mode to 'Free Space Only'. The error message you are receiving is related to the Add-on Processes on the A and B nodes. Whenever Worker 1 enters either of those nodes the process is triggered and tries to complete the process with relation to the Worker. Restructuring the model with Servers in this area should help you get around this issue. Thanks, Ryan
  13. Hello, I have an entity traveling on a timepath between 2 nodes. While traveling on this timepath, I would like the entity to undergo a process. I assumed I would be able to invoke an Activity Element based on the mouse-over description, but I am unable to find info via SimBits or on the discussion forum on the Activity element and StartActivity and EndActivity steps which I think will be useful for me. I am running version 7.114.11717 and plan on upgrading shortly. Thanks in advance.
  14. Hello, I'm working on a project where we want to build a scheduling model. But there is one think that I'm dealing with for a while now. I want to capture mid phase stock. For example if we have part A, which has 5 sequences to be produced. But at previous order we did not push all the parts through production, so now we have some stock on different operations. What I want to achieve is, that when my order come I firstly look at general stock of finished products (OK). If there is not enough stock I want to look at how many parts I have on the stock before last operation, if there is enough I don't want to create new entities but use this stock and produced new parts. If there is not enough parts before last operation we of course look at every previous sequences and if there are still not enough parts only then I want create new manufacturing order and with that new entities. If any of you guys deal with system like that before it will be really helpful. If you haven't but have some idea how to solve this problem, it will also be helpful because I've already tried a lot of options and now I'm stuck. Best regards!
  15. To the best of my knowlegde every process can be enable or disable by using ProcessName.Enabled. You can assign this state variable true at the beginning of the three hour period (not a must but probabily using a timer element) and false at the and of the three hour period. I hope it works?
  16. Process logic is typically added to a model on an as needed basis. For instance you will notice that some of our Scheduling examples, like SchedulingDiscretePartProduction (via Support ribbon -> Examples) does not use any process logic. There are several ways to initiate process logic which you could read more about in the "Processes" help topic. For instance, all objects in the Standard Library have an Add-On Process Triggers property category that allows you to specify specific points in the simulation that you would like to execute a process (like on Entered for a Server). A quick tip: you may double click an Add-On Process Trigger property (like Entered for a Server) to create a new process corresponding to that trigger. There are also other ways to initiate processes: using Elements like Timer or Monitor, user-defined Events, or the Execute step. I would recommend investigating these further in the help documentation if you are interested in learning more. One of our newest example models (provided in the software) called InfectiousDiseaseSampleModel demonstrates using fairly comprehensive process logic along with a data-driven approach. Happy modeling!
  17. Hi to all! I am currently working on a project in which it would be desirable to show a container yard with stacked container entities, limited up to 5 containers per column of stacked entities. I have worked with queues associated to both servers and storage/station items, and found that it is possible to emulate what I want to do, but that the height of every single container must be defined by a hand-drawing process, which is a time-consuming task. Is there a way to create a container yard and to define it's properties? I have read in the forums some answers to similar problems stating that "a storage element will suffice", but it seems to me that I am failing to see how to manifest physically in the model the container yard with the restrictions mentioned above (at most I have been able to show the contents of the storage/station element on a queue line). Any hints, tips, or comments would be deeply appreciated. Cheers!

  19. I've been having issues with binding Excel files (XLSX and CSV format) into SIMIO. Every time I try to bind a file with SIMIO I get the same message of "Data has not been imported or is of an unknown age." Even when I create a table in SIMIO, save to CSV, and then try to reimport the exact same table by creating a CSV binding I get the same error. For further context I am using the Academic RPS version of SIMIO. All online tutorials I can find are using older/ different versions of SIMIO that don't have the same options as I do. Does anyone else have experience with this issue or is able to share some advice to help me get pass this error? Thank you
  20. Hi guys. So, in my model, I have a table (binded to an excel file) with 2 columns - 1 indicates the real number that I want to assign to the state of an entity and the other indicates the probability of that assignment being made. So, I want to assign the values specified on the table, based on the probability also specified... Can anyone give me some hints on how to do this? Thanks.
  21. Add a state in your report using the State Statistic element. If you need that each server report its own state, it's best to create a custom server and add a State Statistic element inside it. Check the attached model for reference. State on report.spfx
  22. Hi guys. I have a timer for each entity. I'd like to know the location (object) of each entity whenever its timer is fired. Can somebody give me some clues on how to do this? Thanks.
  23. Hello. In my model, I have three timers that launch events at the same time: based on time, one (call it A) launch its event at 60, the second at 30 (B) and last at 120 ©. So every 120hours, the three launch their events. Does Simio choose randomly their order on the heap, or is there some kind of "hidden choice"? In "Simio event calendar", it is written that "Within an event type the events are ordered by event index; i.e. the order in which they were scheduled". I do not really understand "the schedule order". In my model, it seems that Simio chooses C-A-B for what I have seen. Is anyone able to explain? I thought that maybe, at time 0, C is put in "future events", so are B at 30 and A at 60. Then, at 60, A is added at 120 (after C so) and B at 90. Finally, B at 120 and we have the order C-A-B. Am I right? Thank you!
  24. You might want to look into Arrival Tables. See the following screen grabs. Configure the source to create entities based on the arrival table as follows: Setup the arrival table to define the arrival time and the number of entities per arrival as follows: Hope this helps, Lucas.
  25. Hi, I have 6 entities arriving at exactly 8am each day. Each of the 6 entities will create a certain number of entities on arrival from their respective distributions. How do I model in my source? I cannot have multiple sources as each entity has its own server processing times. Please can you help? Thank you
