  1. Hello everyone! I'm new in Simio. I hope you guys could spare a moment to assist me with a challenge I'm facing. I have a problem in my simulation model, I have one entity routed at random to one of two lines for processing. These processes follow distinct sequences as describes as follows. 1st sequence (A): S11 - TN11 - TN21 - S22 - S23 - TN22 - TN12 - S14 - Sink1. 2nd sequence (B): S21 - TN21 - TN11 - S12 - S13 - TN12 - TN22 - S24 - Sink2. I intend to integrate a neural network to predict the average makespan, similar to the Neural Network solution provided in the Sample SimBit Solutions. However, I encountered a discrepancy between the example model and my model. In the example model, there is a "Path" feature, which allows for the definition of specific routes. Unfortunately, my model cannot use the "Path" since my model has selection logic for choose transportation in the transfer node either use crane or vehicle, so I need to use a sequence table for the entity to ensure it follows the desired paths. The issue arises when attempting to utilize the neural network. I need to use the "Select From List" for the "Entity Destination Type" in the "Output@Source1" part (I already made the list of nodes = Input@S11 & Input@S21). However, I cannot use this since I already used the sequence table for the entity. As I know from the SimBit, I need to set "Entity Destination Type" by using "Select From List" with the selection goal = random as a base model, and later I will change it with the neural network output. However, from the beginning of this process, an error occurred, as depicted in the attached image. So, I just think could Simio do this: if entity go to Input@S11 then use the 1st sequence, if entity go to input@S21 then use the 2nd sequence but still using the "Select From List" for "Entity Destination Type" since later I will use the smallest value from Neural Network for the selection goal. I also attached my model below for more understanding about my model. Thank you for helping me. Best Regards, Oey Aldi Winata BASE MODEL.spfx
  2. Hi all! I am simulating a facility with nearly 40 servers, each one starting with some entities in the input node at initialization and having a different capacity. Each server has a 0 input buffer capacity. My entity creation is currently set to having an interarrival time to be 4.33 weeks (1 month) with a random number of entities created. Currently, it runs 24/7 and does not care about the time, but I want to incorporate that. How can I make it so that the entities arrive once a month, let's say the first Monday, at 8am? How can I make it so the servers are only processing between 8am and 4pm Monday - Friday? The work schedule doesn't seem to work for me, but I could be doing it wrong, since I have a 0 input buffer, which I can't change as it's part of my routing logic for overflow. I would be happy with using timers or a process logic if someone can explain it to me. Ideally, the entities only arrive when it's during the working time, and the entities remaining after 4pm are just put on hold until 8am the next day. Thanks in advance!
  3. Thank you for the quick and detailed response! I see the error I was making with work schedule and have tested it on one server, it seems to work as intended. Since each of my servers have a different capacity, would I need to create a unique work week and unique day type for them all? Or is there a quicker work around? The manual inputs for the date time are a great work around, I'm only modeling for a few years so I don't mind inputting a few dates. What I mean by there being no buffers is that no server can have a queue. I used a list for selecting the destination on the output node of each source (total of 8 ) where it's a hierarchy. It can go to a select number of servers and if all of them are full it goes to a dummy server of infinite capacity that exits the items to an overflow sink.
  4. You want to make the servers have a Capacity Type of Schedule and follow the default Standard Week. If you don't want to give them a lunch break, just change the definition of the Standard Day. Leave the default Off Shift Rule of Suspend Processing. The easiest approach for arrivals is to have a Source with an Interarrival time of 4.33 weeks (or 4 weeks) and an integer random distribution for the Entities Per Arrival. Doing a "first Monday" is possible, but a bit complicated because Simio time does not have the concept of Month because months are of varying size. You could probably specify the initial Time Offset to be early in a month, then maybe make the interarrival time be something like DateTime.DaysInMonth(DateTime.Month(Timenow),DateTime.Year(TimeNow)) which would make the next arrival be exactly one month later (same day of the month). When you say you have no buffers, what do you mean? If an entity arrives when all servers are busy, should it be balked (possibly disposed) or should it wait somewhere like on the server input node, on a path or in the Source output node? If the above arrival approach isn't exact enough, you can put exact arrivals in a data table. The arrival time could be specified at any exact datetime you desire and still have the Entities Per Arrival be a distribution.
  5. Hello, I am trying to use git to track changes when working on Simio projects collaboratively. For this I am saving the project as *.simproj and the resulting file and folder structure looks good. But there are too many time stamp changes that make it difficult to track the "important" changes. For example, I only changed the location of the DefaultEntity in the model and hit save. The resulting changes are shown in the attached screenshot, with 20 files shown as changed. The main changes are related to the time stamp. Is there a way to configure Simio such that fewer files will be affected by each change? Thank you. Annika
  6. Hi everyone! In the project I'm developing I need something similar to what was done on the Simbit "EntityFollowsSequence". The difference is that I need to be able to change the destinations (update the contents of the sequence table) over time (the number of rows of the table can be fixed, although it would be ideal if they could be dynamically created). Could someone please explain how it would be possible to do this? My edition is NOT Enterprise. Thanks.
  7. Hello, I am trying to run over 100 different scenarios in a design of experiments approach. I have a data table that references different vehicles and sources to set certain conditions, but I'm having a hard time converting the table (which has 100 rows) into the experiment section to run. Any advice appreciated, thank you!
  8. Happy new year! One thing that I noticed is that with this model, the server never have a state of "blocked". I increased the processing time of Server2 and added a status pie to Server1. The server 1 is either Processing or starved, but never blocked according to the pie. But it should be blocked part of the time since I increased the processing time of Server2 to force this. It looks like the Server1 only accepts a new item to process if the path between Server1 and Server2 has room for at least one more vehicle. So the time that it should be blocked is considered as part of the "Starved" instead. I tried to figure out why this happens without success. Anyone knows why this happens? I attach the model to the post. Thank you! Input Server1 not blocked.spfx
  9. Description of Runtime Capability Runtime is the ability for people to execute a Simio model without investing in that design-time version of Simio. Simio imposes no limits to the number of models you can distribute or the number of people you distribute to. And you are free to distribute outside of your organization if you choose. There is no charge for any such distribution. Two runtime modes are available: Interactive Runtime Uses Simio Evaluation Version which is available free to anyone and may be used without activation. It provides the ability to load a model, run it interactively to view the animation, and even change the model at will. Model changes cannot be saved nor is the capability provided to run experiments or execute custom user-written steps and elements. Only Simio Team Edition is capable of creating models that will run in Interactive Runtime. Full Runtime Uses Simio Express Edition. In addition to the substantial modeling features built into Express, it provides the ability to load and run models, save model changes, run experiments, and execute custom user-written steps and elements. Design and Team Editions can create models for use with Full Runtime.
  10. Hi all, I have a model with several servers, each with their own Changeover Matrix for cleaning between jobs. This is done by a Sequence Dependent Setup within the Servers Task Sequence steps. This is working fine when the Cleaning is either done 100% Automatic or 100% Manual with a Worker called as a Secondary resource. Some servers however require partial support from a Worker. For example a COMatrix of X mins needs to include 5 mins support from a Worker at the start and 10 mins support from a worker at the end of the Changeover period, with the middle X - 15 mins in the middle of the CO cleaning period (There are other more complex examples too where the operator will be required half way through the process too to empty the cleaning waste container). Is there a way of saving the COMatrix time, rather than running this delay, so that I can then build an add on process or add further task sequences to break the time into its Automated and Manual Components? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. J
  11. Hello all I am relatively new to Simio and DES. I am trying to model a pallet conveyor. It is a closed loop conveyor. I use the "vehicle" as the pallet that loops around the conveyor. At the source the part (default entity) is loaded on the pallet. At the sink the part is unloaded. The problem that I am encountering is that the vehicles from time to time pile up at the sink, then after a certain amount of time they continue back to the starting point "Source1". This happens more the more I increas the "initialnumber in system" of vehicles The transfer-in Time for the sink is set at 0. At the model trace I read this for the "Input@Sink1" : "the in Token waiting at VisitNode step for '1' other processes to complete." I would apreciate any advice. Many thanks! 12. We are simulating the aircraft will leaving the gate according to our real data history. How can i import the table in simio and let the aircraft leave the gate accouring to the time and date? Also some gate will have more than one different time and date that aircraft will departure the gate. How can i do it as well?
  13. Hello, I am working on a Demo Model and I would like to use the Console feature. The Console has a lot of "pros" because you can decide whether to display/hide KPIs, place buttons...However, it has a couple of "cons" that make its usage less friendly: Console Size cannot be pre-defined. Every time that the Open Console is clicked, the console will be opened in a different place and with a small size, which forces to manually move it and resize it so that everything can be seen more clearly. Gridlines cannot be hidden. I have tried to disable them in the section of view - gridlines, but it has not been possible. Any of you know if these two features actually exist and it's me that I do not know them? Attached there are a couple of screenshots of what I mention and the model itself (DemoModel should be run and right click open console). ConsoleIssue.spfx
  14. Hi, I'm trying to keep track of the time traveled of each vehicle in my system. I'm attaching a basic file with the current model. Aly help will be highly appreciated. Nw_Working_All_Logic.spfx
  15. Hey Simio insiders, I have been working on a model with workers. The workers transport goods over a facility, from one server to another. They seem to work perfectly until about 2 hours into the simulation. I have been looking into the the 'watch' properties, and it appears that the worker is waiting for something. This happens eventough i do not have a wait process in place. It waits at a server which it is about to drop an entity. The server input buffer is infinity, since i thought it might have caused the problem. Do any of you know why my worker is waiting?
  16. I want to build a simple repository model,as the Picture below. And there are two Funktions, that i donn't know, how to implement. The first Problem is: I hope that several products with different total amount can be generated in sequence one by one. For Example, there are 50 Product A, 40 Product B and 30 Product C at Source WE. They schould be generated in sequence. First 50 Product A,1,2,3...50 one by one generated. Then 40B, generated one by one and finally C. At present, I can only achieve one-time generation of all A, then all B and All C. The second Problem ist: there are may be 10 Vehicles in the System. I want to record the total time of the car loaded and empty travel time, and the corresponding percentage of these two items. I would be very very grateful if you could help. I'm really in a hurry and hope to get your help.
  17. Hey, I've got a quick question on how to route to a combiner with the longest waiting time in their parent queue. I think it should be quite easy, but i cant seem to make it work. What i have been doing is setting the selection goal of my routing node to largest value, and select from a list. This largest value I think should be the the longest waiting time in the contents of the parentinput queue. I have tried this multiple ways both using assosiated object and without. When i recall the number waiting it seems to work, but with recalling the waiting time i'm doing something wrong. My current expression is: Candidate.Node.AssociatedObject.Combiner.ParentInputBuffer.Contents.TimeWaiting(ModelEntity) or Candidate.Combiner.ParentInputBuffer.Contents.TimeWaiting( object ) both seem to work for content.numberwaiting. I think i am describing the ( object ) part wrong but cant find how i should write for the modelentity otherwise. I have tried to recall a specific entititype like so --> TimeWaiting(Truck) this also does not work. Does somebody know how i can acces the ParentInputBuffer.Contents.TimeWaiting? Greeting Piet
  18. Hi, I'm having trouble with unit conversion when doing state assignments at a source. There are two different cases where this problem appears in the model: Subtracting TimeNow minus a Date Time state variable (ModelEntity.stWaitingListEntryDate) Although the specified unit for this property is 'Days', the assigned value is in hours and the unit is also 'Hours'. If I manually convert it by dividing by 24, the assigned value is in days, but the displayed unit is still ‘Hours’. Unit conversion issue when assigning a new value to a state variable from a data table Although the PatientsData.MaxWaitingTime is a real property with default unit ‘Days’, the assigned value to the state variable is converted to ‘Hours’. As in the first case, if I manually convert it by dividing by 24, the assigned value is in days, but the displayed unit is still ‘Hours’. In the attached model (time_units_conversion.spfx) you will find a simple example where you can see this in more detail. Any suggestions to solve this issue will be highly appreciated. Thank you and best regards, Nicolina
  19. Hello, I'm working on an emergency department (ED) model where I'm using both nurses and doctors as resources. At the ED, there is a 4:1 Patient to Nurse ratio, meaning that on average, a nurse takes care of 4 patients at the same time. When I was thinking about how to implement this logic on Simio, I looked at this option on the Seize step under Advanced options (you can see it on the picture I attached). I set the Units per Object to 0.25 - because I thought that every time a patient seizes a nurse, it will take out 0.25 out of 1 unit of capacity, instead of taking the whole 1, allowing for 3 other patients to seize her before she is completely busy. However, this doesn't work, because I ran a model trace as I ran the model and the server is ignoring the seize because the "Units per object" is set to 0 (which is not, it's set to 0.25) - the exact model trace comment is: "Ignoring resource release of type Specific 'Nurse'. The required capacity units per object '0' is not a positive quantity.". Therefore, the model ignores the resource seize and processes the entity without the resource. Is this because this property field only works with integers? I thought of a work around by just multiplying my number of nurses by 4 to account for that, but that's not optimal. Would there be any other way of achieving this? Thank you very much for the help!
  20. A basic photo eye object that can be used with conveyor belts. Photo eye is based on a transfer node object. It collects statistics on time in blocked state, cleared state and throughput. Transfer nodes on entered and on exited add on processes can be used as on blocking and on clearing add on processes. Photo eye has properties to define the delays for on blocked and on cleared. Photo eye will wait to complete on blocked delay to execute on blocked add on process. Similarly, photo eye will wait to complete on cleared delay to execute on cleared add on process. 21. Hi Fabian, I see two (or more) possible alternatives for solving this. Assuming that the box only receives one type of entity you can: 1. Create a state variable (for example st_CurrentBoxType) and every time an entity enters the combiner you assign the entity type to this state variable. This way, one the box is completed and exits the combiner you will be able to assign it the st_CurrentBoxType. 2. The other way is to execute a search step once the box is full. You can use "ModelEntity.BatchMembers.FirstItem" as match condition to locate the first batched entity, then in the found branch use an assing step to assign the ProdType from the found entity I'm sure there are a lot of ways of doing that... hope this helps saludos
  22. Greetings, I would like to express the following condition in the Decide step but i couldn't find how; Run.TimeNow - ModelEntity.TimeCreated< 60 (minute) Could you please tell me how to express correctly the 60 minutes ? Best regards,
  23. Hi I have an entity that is moved through the network via vehicles. The vehicle will drop of the entity at the first server which then gets processed through two servers. I would like to use the vehicle that dropped off the entity at the Input to the first server to be used to pick up the next entity at the output of the second server. Is there a way to save the exact Vehicle that was used and specify that as the Vehicle to use at the second pick up point? Hopefully to a global variable and not to the entity (in my actual model, the entity going in to Server 1 is not the next entity coming out of Server 2). At the moment I am using 'Reserve Closest' as the reservation method at Server 2. I know that is incorrect, but I'm not sure how to setup this up using the other methods. In the attached model, process works for the first entity, but does not for the second entity onwards. Due to other limitations in the model, I need to have the Vehicles to 'Remain in Place' during idle. Thanks in advance for the help. SpecificVehicle.spfx
  24. I'm interested in calculating a yearly production rate. Essentially I could do this if I ran my simulation for 1 year and looked at the output. The number of entities destroyed by my "completed" sink will be what I'm looking for. How do I determine this value if I'm running for longer than 1 year? For example; If I run for 5 years, and I'm watching my model run, at week 186 I'd like to know how many entities had been destroyed by my "completed" sink between weeks 134 and 186 to determine my yearly production rate.
  25. Hello, I'm new to both the forum and the world of simio in general. I am trying to simulate how much the maximum buffer could be in 2 points of my process which are defined by the Buffer_ST1 and Buffer_ST2 servers. My problem is that I would like the Buffer_ST2 server based on a condition that would be every time an entity passes on Input @ Buffer_ST1, the Buffer_ST2 server releases only one processed entity and not all those inside the server as it happens now, I hope for being clear and thank you in advance. I put the model in the attachment Buffer varianti trazioni V2.spfx
