4th Annual Simio Sync

Simio is excited for the 2020 Simio Sync meeting in Pittsburgh, PA on May 4-5th with Advanced Training following on May 6-8th. To celebrate the 4th Simio Sync, we are excited to announce this year's theme: Digital Transformation. Digital Transformation spans all industries and is the evolution of business, processes, and models to fully leverage the changes and opportunities of a mix of digital technologies including Simio's simulation and scheduling capabilities.

Simio Sync allows you to network and hear presentations in a variety of industries and companies such as: Boeing, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Bayer, Spirit Airlines, Roche and many more! Download a letter to help convince your manager you need to attend! New this year: We are featuring a Simio Significant Other program and having a Simio Sync challenge at the Pittsburgh Marathon.

Advanced training is available over 3 days across 3 different classes. Learn more about the differnet classes.

After a successful soft launch at the 2019 Simio Sync, we want to invite your Significant Other to explore Pittsburgh with Simio Significant Other. The Simio Significant Other will serve as guide to the Historic and Unique places of Pittsburgh. All Significant Other are welcomed to attend the Monday Networking Reception. View the Tentative Agenda.

On Sunday, May 3, 2020, a day before Simio Sync, the Pittsburgh Marathon is being held. This race consists of a full, half and marathon relay. Run with Simio as a part of the Simio Sync Corporate Challenge!

Simio Refresher Course (Wednesday May 6 – Friday May 8)

  • Simio Refresher Course will provide the last 3 days of our 4-day Simio Fundamentals course(1). This is appropriate for someone who was self-taught or already understands simulation and Simio basics but would like a refresher to “fill in the gaps”, learn about new features, or to spend some extra time learning about the more advanced concepts in that course.
  • We will skip the introductory modules 1-4 but cover remaining modules 5-14 of the Simio Fundamentals course. Modules will include Library Objects, Task Sequences, Controlling Movement, Material Handling, Data Tables, Processes, Debugging, Optimization, and Building Objects.
  • This is not an advanced course, but it does require participants to know at least the basics of simulation and Simio. People with no prior training can meet that prerequisite by completing the Introduction to Simulation and Simio course(2) on-line, before SimioSync.
  • Note: Training will be from 8am - 5pm

Simio Advanced Course (Wednesday May 6 – Thursday May 7)

  • Simio Advanced Course will provide advanced training targeted at simulation professionals using Professional Edition. You must have already taken the equivalent of Simio Fundamentals live or on-line training course and have experience using Simio in several projects. We start with the assumption that you are very familiar with most Simio constructs including processes, tables, relational tables, task sequences, materials and other constructs taught in the fundamentals course.
  • This course will provide you with the knowledge to extend your projects to the next level by taking advantage of features not taught in the Simio Fundamentals course.
  • It will include(3) advanced Data Table Concepts (including relational tables, output tables, data-driven and data-generated models, I/O, and importing and exporting data), Advanced Processes (“subroutine” features, debugging, Search step), Task Sequences (mapping to tables, table schemas, loopbacks, processes), Materials and Inventory (location-based inventory, replenishment, pegging), Create from This, Dispatching Rules, Custom Routing Groups, basic Gantt charts, and Advanced Resource Options.
  • Note: Training will be from 8am - 5pm

Simio Advanced Course plus Scheduling (Wednesday May 6 – Friday May 8)

  • Simio Advanced Course plus Scheduling will provide advance training targeted at simulation professionals who use or want to use RPS Edition. This builds on the above course, so again, you must have already taken the equivalent of Simio Fundamentals live or on-line training course and have experience using Simio in several projects.
  • This course will provide you with the knowledge you need to get started building scheduling projects.
  • After all the topics in the above course, we will continue with a detailed demonstration of a realistic scheduling model (what it does and how it is used). Then we build a model from scratch and discuss use cases, data-generated models, and the use of templates. The RPS Gantt charts will be discussed in detail including logs, custom columns, and many other features. We will end by bringing the 3 days of training together with a detailed hands-on walkthrough of another scheduling model.
  • Note: Training will be from 8am - 5pm
