Simio is proud to sponsor the Simio Seminar Series in partnership with Orcasim and Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla. This five-and-a-half-day seminar series will feature sessions appropriate for everyone, no matter your level of simulation and Simio knowledge. It will be hosted at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Puebla, Mexico from June 12 - 17, 2017.
Executive Overview – Business Success with Simulation
This Monday morning session provides a fast overview of what simulation is and how you can use it to improve your success. It will feature interesting case studies describing how your peers have made dramatic improvements to their bottom line. This course is appropriate for all audiences and is recommended for those looking to better understand this technology and evaluate if it could be useful in your organization. This session also is appropriate for those who manage or work with modelers.
This session is led by David Sturrock, co-founder of Simio LLC, with over 30 years of experience. This session will also feature presentation by local practitioners who have demonstrated success in simulation.
Introduction to Simulation and Simio
This Monday afternoon session provides a technical overview of how simulation works. This hands-on course starts with a simple problem -- we will construct the model, analyze the system, and perform experimentation, along the way getting an introduction and overview of Simio’s modeling features.
This course is appropriate for all audiences and is recommended for those who desire a lighter command of simulation technology and those looking to prepare for a more detailed simulation course (see Rapid Modeling with Intelligent Objects: Simio Standard Training on Tuesday - Thursday). This session also is appropriate for a simulation manager to help you better understand the modeling work.
This course is taught by a certified Simio trainer. Successful completion of both Monday sessions will result in a Level 1 Simio Fundamentals certification.
Rapid Modeling with Intelligent Objects: Simio Standard Training
This three-day training session provides a fast start to using Simio to effectively solve real problems. This course assumes that you already understand the basics of simulation and Simio -- all participants should have attended the Monday session or have equivalent on-line courses or other similar experience.
We start with a brief overview of the Simio modeling framework to learn what makes Simio unique. We use the Simio Standard Library to solve a variety of problems -- exploring the ease-of-use and power of intelligent objects. Next, we cover how objects can interact to provide improved model accuracy and flexibility and how to create and modify objects graphically. Learn about innovations in data representation and integration with Excel, databases and external systems like Wonderware MES. Significant time will be spent on extending model logic with add-on processes and building object definitions. This session includes an overview of innovative ways to evaluate scenarios and interpret simulation results, and demonstrates the many built-in tools and techniques to ensure that your model is verified and validated and providing reliable results.
Most topics are illustrated with numerous hands-on workshops that let you instantly put your new knowledge into practical application. Success tips based on decades of experience are interspersed liberally throughout the course.
This course is recommended for technical people who are interested in developing a well-rounded competency in simulation and Simio. This course is taught by a certified Simio trainer. Successful completion will result in a Level 2 Simio Standard Training certification.
Simio Advanced Training
This one-and-a-half-day training session explains more advanced aspects of Simio. We will cover some commonly requested advanced topics like: the Flow library (pipes, tanks, …), the new Extras library (cranes, robots, elevators, …), the Search step, dashboards, and advanced processes and steps. We will try to allow time in the second day for extra topics selected by participants – please indicate any special requests when you register.
This course is recommended for advanced users who already have a solid understanding of Simio basics. This course is taught by a certified Simio trainer.
