For Immediate Release posted on December 6, 2012

Sewickley, Pa. – 6 December 2012: Simio LLC announces the release of Simio version 5 which employs a novel approach to modeling flow by allowing entities to change shapes and transfer weight or volume at a specified rate. Any entity in Simio can now be displayed either as symbol or as geometric shape that changes size with changes in volume. For example a load of iron ore might be represented by a single entity that is displayed as a symbol that changes size as it transfers its volume to a new location over time. When the iron ore is dumped into a rail car it can take the shape of that rail car. Review Version 5 Highlights.

“Multi-objective optimization, another industry first, is now available in version 5 “ according to David Sturrock, vice president of operations. Also in version 5, Sturrock points out.. “you will have free space movement enhancements so you no longer need to draw networks if you don’t need them, AVI generation with camera scripting, flexible ride capacity and dwell time on vehicles, new support ribbon and a crane library.” The crane library provides multiple cranes, blocking prevention, acceleration, and flexible cab movement. Version 5 also includes support of units like mass, volume, and rates, over 70 new functions (including full calendar time support), several new steps, new SimBits, 122 extra pages of help, free on-line training videos, and more! Click here for a breakdown of each new Simio Version 5 capability.
