Sewickley, PA – Simio, a developer of object-oriented simulation software, awarded nearly $3.4 million in grants to over 80 universities in 2009 as part of its Academic Program. The grants came in the form of Simio’s Academic Edition, which includes discrete and continuous modeling, code-free object building, object library development, and 3D animation. Simio’s Academic Edition has no boundaries on model size or complexity.
“Intelligent object-based simulation software like Simio is the future of simulation,” Simio Founder and CEO Dr. C. Dennis Pegden said. “Our academic program is committed to making Simio available to professors, students, and researchers at no cost to the institution”.
Most recently, Simio awarded a $40,000 grant to Mayo Medical School, part of Mayo Clinic, a non-profit organization and internationally renowned group medical practice headquartered in Rochester, Minnesota.
Simio also recently provided a $300,000 grant to the School of Engineering & Computational Science at Liberty University. Liberty University is the largest private educational institution in Virginia with a total annual enrollment of over 40,000 students and academic offerings of more than 60 accredited programs of study.
Simio has awarded grants to leading domestic universities such as Penn State, Auburn, Northwestern, Purdue, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech. International grant recipients include the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), China’s Dalian Jiaotong University and Brazils’ Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).
