Simio and Simaco Airport Workshop

Airport Header Image Simulation Airport Workshop

Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Crystal City Marriott at Reagan National Airport (DCA)
Presented by Simaco Inc.

Airport authorities, airlines, regulatory agencies, security specialists, and transportation consultants are regularly asked to develop and deploy systems that must meet quantified performance criteria. When developing these, simulation is often used to define, quantify, visualize, improve and sell their designs.

Hosted by Simaco Inc. Director of Simulation and Business Modeling Steve Pare, this unique one-day workshop will provide attendees with the opportunity to build a model in each of the three major areas of airport operations -- ground transportation, passenger processing, and runway activities -- using the latest object-oriented 3D simulation software: Simio.

Join us Thursday, December 9, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Reagan National Airport (DCA) - Crystal City Marriott in Washington, DC. This seminar will be held in the Marriott's conference center. To reserve a seat, click here.

During this hands-on session, participants will build models in which:

  • Passengers are generated according to a flight schedules, are routed to the appropriate facilities and processed
  • Departing aircraft leave their gates and safely navigate to runways and take off
  • Key performance indicators are collected and analyzed

The training showcases the many features offered by Simio that simplify the modeling of airport facilities. Participants will leave with documentation, the solutions to the exercises, and an evaluation version of Simio to let them to continue their modelling.

Steve Pare has been involved in the simulation of complex systems for over twenty years. He has built a solid reputation by assisting organizations in the fields of aviation, healthcare, government and manufacturing improve their designs and balance sheets using a variety of simulation platforms. His company, Simaco Inc., was the first to join the Simio partner network. Steve obtained a degree in industrial engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal and is a frequent speaker at a number of universities.

Who Should Attend This Workshop

The workshop provides an ideal forum for airline people interested in learning about the simulation of airport operations. This event will be of particular interest to:

  • Air transportation executives who wish to gain an appreciation of simulation and its applications
  • Managers who have projects for which they see a role for simulation and have questions with regards to what is required to make it happen
  • Project engineers that want to jumpstart their modeling initiative
  • Airline operational research analysts
  • Simulation veterans who want to experience the latest innovation in simulation

Simio simulation software allows you to confidently answer tough questions such as:

  • How can I best focus my investments to increase runway capacity?
  • How can we deploy our people to minimize cost while maintaining our service levels?
  • How do we make the most of our limited queuing space?
  • Will the central conveyor system be able to handle the bags
    assigned to the new gates?
  • If not, what adjustments will be required?

Workshop Registration

The $495 per person registration fee includes tutorial documentation, example models and a 30 day evaluation version of Simio. To register, email airportworkshop@simio.com.
